If You Just Enrolled, Rescind Instead

New customers get a short window to back out with no consequences at all. Nordic Energy’s contract gives you ten calendar days after you receive written confirmation of the switch from your local utility to rescind by calling 877-808-1022.2Nordic Energy. Nordic Energy Services LLC – Uniform Disclosure Statement Rescission periods in other deregulated states can be shorter, so if you’re outside Illinois check the confirmation letter for the exact deadline.

If a door-to-door salesperson signed you up, you have an additional federal protection. The FTC’s Cooling-Off Rule lets you cancel any door-to-door sale of $25 or more within three business days, counting every day except Sundays and federal holidays.3eCFR. 16 CFR Part 429 – Rule Concerning Cooling-Off Period for Sales If the salesperson never gave you a cancellation form, that’s a violation, and your window may extend further.

If you’re inside either window, act now. Call, then follow up in writing the same day. Don’t wait for a bill to arrive first.

Gather Your Account Details First

Pull out your most recent bill from your local utility, not from Nordic Energy. You need your Point of Delivery ID (sometimes labeled POD ID) or your utility service account number. Suppliers use this alphanumeric code to identify your account for enrollment and cancellation. Its location varies by utility, sometimes on page one, sometimes buried further in.4NYSEG. Also dig up the Terms of Service or Uniform Disclosure Statement Nordic Energy gave you when you enrolled. It confirms your contract length, rate type, and cancellation rights. Nordic Energy’s standard residential product is a month-to-month variable-rate plan with a one-month initial term that auto-renews monthly.2Nordic Energy. How to Contact Nordic Energy

You have two ways in: phone or email. Using both gives you the cleanest paper trail.

By Phone

Call 877-808-1022.1Nordic Energy. Contact Us Tell the representative you want to terminate your supply agreement and return to your local utility’s standard rate. Write down the date, time, and the name of the person you spoke with, and ask for a cancellation confirmation number before you hang up. If you’re offered a new rate or transferred to a retention department, you don’t have to negotiate. Repeat that you want the account closed.

By Email

Send your request to info@nordicenergy-us.com.1Nordic Energy. Contact Us A subject line like “Cancellation Request — [Your Name] — [POD ID]” makes it easier to reference later. In the body, state that you’re terminating your supply agreement, include your account number and service address, and request a written reply confirming the effective cancellation date. Save the sent message and any response. If you get no reply within a few business days, follow up by phone.

Nordic Energy does not publish a physical mailing address on its website, so certified mail isn’t a practical option. Phone plus email is the fastest combination that still gives you documentation.

There’s No Early Termination Fee

This is the piece most people worry about unnecessarily. Nordic Energy’s standard residential contracts state that you can cancel at any time with no termination fee and no penalty.2Nordic Energy. Nordic Energy Services LLC – Uniform Disclosure Statement The Illinois Commerce Commission’s product listing for Nordic Energy shows the same: no early termination fee.5Illinois Commerce Commission. Verify your own paperwork before assuming this applies to you. Commercial accounts, older agreements, and some promotional sign-ups may carry different terms. Your Uniform Disclosure Statement is what governs your situation. If it lists a termination fee, it will state the exact amount.

What Happens After You Cancel

Once Nordic Energy processes the cancellation, the company notifies your local utility to return your supply to its default rate. You don’t need to call the utility separately. Delivery of gas or electricity never stops, because the utility handles that regardless of who supplies the energy.

The switch isn’t immediate. Utilities process supplier changes on their meter reading schedule, so the transition usually takes one to two billing cycles. Expect one more bill with Nordic Energy supply charges calculated up to the date the meter registered the switch.

Watch your next two or three bills. The supply portion should shift from Nordic Energy’s rate to your utility’s standard service rate. If Nordic Energy charges keep appearing after two full billing cycles, call your utility’s customer service line to confirm the switch went through. Cancellations sometimes stall in a queue, and the utility can often clear it faster than the supplier.

If the Cancellation Doesn’t Go Through

If you’ve called and emailed but the supplier charges keep coming, escalate to your state’s public utility commission. Every deregulated state has one, and they regulate third-party suppliers. File a complaint with your account number, copies of your cancellation requests, and a description of what happened. Most commissions accept complaints online, and they can order the supplier to release your account.

If You Never Signed Up in the First Place

If Nordic Energy showed up on your bill and you never authorized the switch, that’s slamming, and it’s illegal in every deregulated state. Call your local utility right away to reverse the switch, then file a complaint with your state’s public utility commission. Ask the supplier to produce documentation of the authorization. If they can’t show a signed contract or a verified phone recording, the switch should be reversed and you should not owe charges from the unauthorized period.6FTC. Keep every bill, email, and phone note through either process. A clear timeline is what state commissions rely on, and it strengthens your case considerably.
