To cancel autopay on a LendingClub personal loan, call LendingClub at 844-227-5011 and ask a representative to turn off recurring automatic payments on your account. There is no self-service toggle in the Member Center for shutting autopay off; the phone call is the path. Make the call at least five days before your next due date, or the pending withdrawal will likely still process.1LendingClub. How Do I Make Loan Payments
Two things to check before you call. First, look at your loan agreement for an autopay interest rate discount. If your rate includes one, canceling can bump the rate up and raise your monthly payment. Second, know how you plan to pay going forward, because every payment is on you the moment autopay stops.
What to Have Ready for the Call
Have these in front of you when you dial 844-227-5011:
- Your loan account number, from any billing statement or the Member Center dashboard.
- The bank account currently linked to autopay, so you can confirm what’s on file.
- Your next payment due date, so you and the representative can confirm whether the upcoming draft will still hit.
Tell the representative you want to cancel all future recurring automatic payments. Ask for written confirmation, either by email or as a note attached to your account, and write down any reference number they give you. That paper trail matters if a withdrawal shows up after you were told autopay was off.
Using a Bank Stop-Payment as Backup
If you want extra protection, or if a withdrawal is scheduled and you don’t trust the timing, you can place a stop-payment order with your bank. Under the Electronic Fund Transfer Act, you can stop any preauthorized transfer by notifying your bank at least three business days before the scheduled date.2Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 USC 1693e – Preauthorized Transfers Notice can be given by phone, but the bank can require written confirmation within 14 days; skip that follow-up and the oral order expires.3eCFR. 12 CFR 1005.10 – Preauthorized Transfers
A stop-payment at the bank is not a substitute for canceling with LendingClub. Blocking the withdrawal on the bank side does not tell LendingClub anything; from their view, the payment simply failed. That can bring a returned-payment fee and show as a missed payment. Cancel with LendingClub first, and use the bank order only as insurance.

Mailed payments credit when LendingClub processes them, not when you drop the envelope in the box. Send checks well ahead of your due date.
What Happens If You Miss a Payment
LendingClub gives a 15-day grace period after your due date before a late fee applies. The company does not publish the exact fee amount, stating only that “a late fee or other penalty may apply” once the grace period ends; the specific figure is in your loan agreement.5LendingClub. The bigger cost is credit. A payment more than 30 days past due can be reported to the credit bureaus, and that late mark stays on your report for years.6LendingClub. How Often Is Your Credit Score Updated Set a calendar reminder or phone alert several days before each due date. Autopay solved this problem automatically; once it’s off, you need a replacement system.
Consider Changing Your Due Date Instead
If the real problem is that your payment hits at the wrong time of the month, moving the due date may be a better fix than canceling autopay. LendingClub lets you change your payment due date to any day between the 1st and 28th.7LendingClub. Can I Change My Payment Due Date You can line the draft up with a payday and leave autopay running.
There are limits. On some loan products the change is allowed only once during the life of the loan, and the new date does not take effect until the next billing cycle, so you still owe the current month’s payment on the original date. A longer transitional billing cycle can also mean slightly more accrued interest on that first payment under the new schedule.7LendingClub. Can I Change My Payment Due Date
If a Withdrawal Happens After You Canceled
If LendingClub pulls a payment after you properly canceled, call your bank and report an unauthorized transfer. Under Regulation E, your bank must investigate within 10 business days; if it needs more time, it must provisionally credit your account while the investigation continues for up to 45 days.8eCFR. 12 CFR 1005.11 – Procedures for Resolving Errors You have to report the error within 60 days of receiving the statement showing the withdrawal.
Call LendingClub too. Sometimes the withdrawal is a timing overlap rather than a mistake, and having your cancellation confirmation on hand speeds things up. If the draft went through because the cancellation call came too close to the due date, LendingClub may be able to apply the money as a manual payment so you get credit for the month, rather than refunding it and leaving you to pay again.
