To cancel iD Mobile, text PAC or STAC to a short code from your iD Mobile SIM, use the iD Mobile app, or contact customer service via live chat or phone. Which method makes sense depends on whether you want to keep your phone number, and what you’ll pay depends on whether you’re still inside your minimum contract term.
Text PAC or STAC to Switch or Cancel
The quickest route out is the text-to-switch system regulated by Ofcom. If you want to take your number with you to a new provider, text PAC to 65075 from your iD Mobile SIM. A Porting Authorisation Code usually arrives within a minute. Give that code to your new provider and they handle the transfer, which should complete within one working day. The PAC stays valid for 30 days; if it expires, request a fresh one.1Ofcom. Switching – Mobile
If you don’t want to keep your number, text STAC to 75075 instead. That generates a Service Termination Authorisation Code, which simply ends your iD Mobile service and deactivates the number.2iD Mobile. Switch The reply text should also flag any outstanding balance or early termination charge on your account.
Cancel Through the App or Customer Service
The iD Mobile app can generate your PAC or STAC directly, without sending a text. Open the app and look under your plan settings for the switch or cancel option.3iD Mobile. Returns and Cancellations
You can also cancel through live chat at idmobile.co.uk/live-chat or by calling 0800 049 2402. A call is useful if you want to confirm your remaining days or query your final bill before committing. If you’re requesting a standard disconnection rather than using a PAC or STAC, expect a 30-day notice period. Your service stays active during those 30 days.
Cancelling Within 30 Days of Signing Up
iD Mobile gives you 30 days from the day your order arrived to return items and cancel without an early termination fee, which is more generous than the statutory 14-day cooling-off period. You’ll still owe any usage charges, line rental, and add-ons up to the disconnection date.3iD Mobile. Returns and Cancellations
Start the return through live chat. They’ll issue a Return Transaction Number and a shipping address. Don’t post anything back before you have that confirmation. For SIM-only orders, dispose of the physical SIM or delete the eSIM from your phone. Nothing needs posting.3iD Mobile. Returns and Cancellations
A returned handset must be in its original condition with the original packaging, all accessories, and any free gifts. Factory reset it first, keep your proof of purchase, and post everything back within 14 calendar days of the return being confirmed.3iD Mobile. Returns and Cancellations
Watch the order of operations here. If you use your PAC or STAC to switch away before the return is processed, iD Mobile treats it as a cancellation rather than a return, and an early termination fee can apply even though you were inside the 30-day window. Complete the return first, then switch.3iD Mobile. Returns and Cancellations
Early Termination Fees
Leaving before your minimum term ends triggers an early termination fee. The formula is your full monthly line rental multiplied by the number of days left on the contract.4iD Mobile. List of Charges No discount is applied. You pay the full rate for every remaining day.5iD Mobile. iD Mobile Terms and Conditions – Pay Monthly
It adds up fast. A £30 plan with eight months left works out to roughly £240, charged as a lump sum on your final bill. Failing to pay can lead to debt recovery, so check your contract end date in the app or on a recent bill before you cancel. If you’re only a few weeks from the end of the term, waiting it out can save real money.
After Your Minimum Term Ends
Once your 12- or 24-month term expires, the contract doesn’t cancel itself. You keep paying the same monthly amount on a rolling 30-day basis until you switch, upgrade, or leave. You’re no longer locked in, so you can cancel with 30 days’ notice and no early termination fee.
Ofcom requires iD Mobile to contact you between 10 and 40 days before your contract ends, telling you when it expires, what you’ve been paying, what you’ll pay next, the notice period, and the best available deals.6Ofcom. Are You In or Out of Contract? If you stay on without signing a new deal, a yearly reminder about better deals should follow. These are worth reading. Plenty of people carry on paying a contract-period price long after they could have moved to something cheaper.
Your Final Bill
Once cancellation is processed, iD Mobile issues a final bill covering any remaining usage and, where it applies, the early termination fee. Keep your Direct Debit active until the bill clears. Cancelling it early doesn’t erase the debt and can create problems with collections.
If your account is in credit at cancellation, you should receive a refund. Check the final statement against your recent bills, especially the early termination calculation. If anything looks wrong, raise it through live chat while the details are fresh.
Cancelling for a Deceased Account Holder
iD Mobile runs a dedicated bereavement team on 0800 049 2376, through live chat at idmobile.co.uk/live-chat, or by post at iD Mobile, PO BOX 686, Salford, M5 0PA. The team is available seven days a week, 9am to 6pm, excluding bank holidays.
You’ll need to provide a copy of the death certificate. If it hasn’t been issued yet, contact the team anyway so they can note the account. Once they have the certificate, the account is disconnected within 72 hours.7iD Mobile. Vulnerable Customer Policy Early termination fees should not apply in bereavement cases, but confirm that with the team when you get in touch.
