How to Cancel Grok AI and X Premium: Web, iPhone, and Android

To cancel a Grok AI subscription, go back to wherever you signed up. If you bought SuperGrok or SuperGrok Heavy directly at grok.com, cancel inside your xAI account settings. If your Grok access came bundled with X Premium or Premium+, cancel that X Premium subscription through the X website, the Apple App Store, or Google Play, depending on how you originally paid. Picking the wrong path is the single most common reason people think they’ve canceled and keep getting charged.

Figure Out Which Subscription You Have

Grok is sold two ways: as part of an X Premium or Premium+ subscription on X, or as a standalone SuperGrok plan bought directly at grok.com.1X Help Center. About X Premium Pull up your bank or credit card statement and look at the merchant name on the charge. “X Premium” or “Twitter” means an X platform subscription. “xAI” or “Grok” means a standalone plan. “Apple” or “Google” means you subscribed through a mobile app store, and that’s who you have to cancel with regardless of which product you signed up for.

Still unsure? Log into grok.com, open Settings, then Billing. An active plan listed there is a standalone Grok subscription.2xAI. FAQ – Grok Website / Apps Nothing listed there means your Grok access is riding on X Premium. On X, check Settings and Privacy for the Premium or Subscriptions tab to confirm.

Canceling a Standalone SuperGrok Plan

For SuperGrok or SuperGrok Heavy bought at grok.com, everything happens inside your xAI account. Go to grok.com, open Settings, and select Billing to manage the subscription and stop future charges.2xAI. FAQ – Grok Website / Apps Sign-in methods and other account details live separately at accounts.x.ai, but the cancel action itself is in Billing.

Canceling X Premium on the Web

If Grok came through X Premium and you subscribed on the X website (not through a phone), cancel at x.com. Log in, click “More” in the left sidebar, then “Settings and Support,” then “Settings and privacy.” Open the Subscriptions section and click “Cancel Subscription.” X may show retention offers or a discount before it lets the cancellation go through; you can decline them.

Once you confirm, you should see an on-screen notification and get a confirmation email. Save both. Access to Grok and other Premium features runs until the end of the billing period you already paid for, then stops on its own.

Canceling X Premium on iPhone or iPad

If you subscribed through the App Store, x.com cannot cancel for you. Open the Settings app on your device, tap your name at the top, then tap “Subscriptions.”3Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple Find X Premium in the list, select it, and tap “Cancel Subscription.” A confirmation prompt appears before the cancellation is final. You can also reach the same list by opening the App Store app and tapping your profile icon.

Canceling X Premium on Android

Open the Google Play Store, go to your subscriptions, select the X Premium subscription, and tap “Cancel subscription,” then follow the remaining prompts.4Google Play. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play You can also get there through the Settings app: tap Google, then your name, then “Manage your Google Account,” then “Payments & subscriptions,” then “Manage subscriptions.”

On both iOS and Android, deleting the X app does not cancel the subscription. Billing continues until you cancel through the store that processes your payment.

Refunds and Unused Time

X Premium is prepaid and non-refundable. Cancel partway through a monthly or annual cycle and you keep access until the period ends, but you get no credit for unused time.5X Corp. X Purchaser Terms of Service That matters most on annual plans, where an early cancellation can leave months of paid access on the table.

A few narrow exceptions exist. Subscribers in the EU or UK have a 14-day withdrawal right after purchase and can cancel for any reason in that window.5X Corp. X Purchaser Terms of Service On iOS, upgrading to a higher tier triggers a prorated refund for the remainder of the old plan. Android handles upgrades by crediting remaining time toward your next billing date instead of paying cash back. Outside those situations, the terms state that refunds are not available unless the law requires one.

What Happens After You Cancel

For both a standalone SuperGrok plan and an X Premium subscription, access runs to the end of the period you already paid for. After that date, Grok features and any checkmark tied to X Premium come off. Your X account itself stays put, along with your posts, followers, and message history.1X Help Center. About X Premium

When the Cancel Button Isn’t There

The most frequent failure is looking in the wrong place. A subscription bought through Apple will not show a cancel button on x.com, and a web subscription will not appear in your App Store or Google Play subscription list. Check the bank statement first so you know which company to talk to.

On Android, if X Premium isn’t showing up in Google Play at all, you may be signed into a different Google account than the one you bought it under. Tap your profile picture in the Play Store and switch accounts to check. It’s also possible a family member’s account was used. Clearing the cache for Google Play Services through your device Settings sometimes fixes display glitches.

Some web subscribers have reported that x.com misidentifies their subscription as an App Store purchase, hiding the cancel button. If that happens, message @Premium on X or file a support request through the X Help Center.

A suspended X account is the worst version of this problem: you can’t reach the cancellation interface, but billing keeps running. File an appeal of the suspension first to get back in. If the appeal fails or you just want the account gone, X links a deactivation request form from its suspended accounts help page, and you can also reach the company through the contacts listed in its privacy policy.6X Help Center. About Suspended Accounts Handle the payment side separately through Apple or Google if you subscribed on a phone, since those companies can stop the charge no matter what shape your X account is in.

Your Rights Under Federal Cancellation Rules

The FTC’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires companies to make canceling a subscription as simple as signing up.7Federal Trade Commission. Federal Trade Commission Announces Final Click-to-Cancel Rule Making It Easier for Consumers to End Recurring Subscriptions and Memberships It covers automatic renewals and recurring subscriptions, and it bars companies from burying the cancel option or forcing phone calls on people who signed up online. If a platform is making cancellation unreasonably harder than signup was, you can file a complaint at ftc.gov.
