To cancel the $29.99 Coinbase charge, sign in to your Coinbase account, open the Coinbase One management page, and select “Cancel membership.” The whole thing takes about two minutes. One catch: if you originally subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, canceling inside Coinbase alone will not stop the billing, and you have to cancel through that store instead. Your benefits continue through the end of the current billing cycle either way.

The $29.99 monthly fee is the Coinbase One “Preferred” tier, which includes zero trading fees on up to $10,000 in monthly volume, a 10% staking rewards boost, and account protection up to $10,000.1Coinbase. Coinbase One All Coinbase One plans renew automatically at the start of each billing period, so the charge repeats until you actively cancel.2Coinbase. Coinbase One Billing Plans
Before you start, make sure you can log in and complete two-factor authentication. Have your authenticator app or phone nearby. Then:
- On a web browser, sign in to your Coinbase account, click “Coinbase One” in the navigation bar, select “Manage,” then choose “Cancel membership.”
- On the mobile app, tap the menu icon, select “Coinbase One,” tap “Manage,” then choose “Cancel membership.”3Coinbase. Coinbase One Billing Plans – Section: Cancel Your Subscription
Coinbase will ask you to pick a reason for leaving. Select any reason and confirm on the final screen. You should see a message confirming that the subscription will not renew, along with the date your current benefits expire. Save the confirmation email as your receipt.
If You Subscribed Through Apple or Google Play
This is where people get stuck. If you originally signed up for Coinbase One through the Apple App Store or Google Play, your subscription is managed by that platform, not by Coinbase, and canceling inside the Coinbase app will not stop the charge. Check your card or bank statement: if the merchant on the $29.99 line reads as Apple or Google rather than Coinbase, use the steps below.
Through Apple
On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name at the top, then tap “Subscriptions.” Find Coinbase One in the list and tap “Cancel Subscription.”4Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple If there is no cancel button and you see an expiration message in red text, the subscription is already canceled. If Coinbase One is not listed at all, you may be signed into a different Apple ID, or the subscription was purchased directly through Coinbase.
Through Google Play
On an Android device, open the Google Play app, tap your profile icon, then go to “Payments & subscriptions” and select “Subscriptions.” Find Coinbase One and tap “Cancel subscription,” then follow the prompts.5Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play Uninstalling the Coinbase app on its own does not cancel the subscription. If nothing appears, confirm you are signed into the Google account you used when you subscribed.
What Happens After You Cancel
Cancellation does not end your benefits immediately. Because the $29.99 payment covers a full billing cycle, you keep zero trading fees, the staking rewards boost, priority support, and other Preferred perks until the cycle ends.2Coinbase. Coinbase One Billing Plans Once that date passes, your account reverts to a standard Coinbase profile: staking rewards drop back to the standard rate, and trades incur regular Coinbase fees. Assets you already staked remain staked, but the enhanced yield ends with the membership.
Getting a Refund
Coinbase offers refunds on the Preferred plan only in limited circumstances. To qualify, you must have traded less than $100 during the current billing cycle, the payment must have fully cleared, and you must not have received a Coinbase One refund before.6Coinbase Help. Coinbase One Billing Plans Coinbase asks that you wait at least eight days after the charge for the payment to clear before contacting support.
Refunds are not available in several situations:
- Annual plans are not refundable at all.
- Active Coinbase One Card holders cannot receive full refunds, though partial refunds may be considered case by case.
- Trading more than $100 during the billing period on the Preferred plan disqualifies you.6Coinbase Help. Coinbase One Billing Plans
If the charge caught you off guard because a free trial converted to paid, Coinbase’s terms treat that as valid: the trial becomes a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel first.7Coinbase Help. Coinbase One Free Trial You can still request a refund under the rules above if you meet them.
If You Never Signed Up
If the $29.99 charge appeared without your consent, first check whether it actually came from a recurring buy you set up previously or from a charge reversal Coinbase is collecting on. Both of these show up on statements and get confused with subscription fees.8Coinbase Help. Report an Unauthorized Transaction
If the charge is genuinely unauthorized, gather the transaction details from your bank statement or Coinbase account history and contact Coinbase support. If you believe a third party accessed your account, Coinbase recommends contacting local law enforcement as well.8Coinbase Help. Report an Unauthorized Transaction
Stopping the Charge Through Your Bank
If Coinbase is unresponsive or you want another layer of protection, federal law lets you stop a preauthorized recurring charge by contacting your bank directly. Under Regulation E, you can place a stop-payment order on a recurring electronic transfer by notifying your financial institution at least three business days before the next scheduled charge.9eCFR. 12 CFR 1005.10 – Preauthorized Transfers
You can give this notice by phone, but the bank may require you to follow up with a written confirmation within 14 days. If you do not send the written confirmation when the bank asks for it, the oral stop-payment order expires after those 14 days.9eCFR. 12 CFR 1005.10 – Preauthorized Transfers Banks typically charge a fee for stop-payment orders, often $15 to $35, so this works as a last resort. Cancel through Coinbase or the relevant app store first.
