How to Cancel Coinbase One: Steps, Refunds, and What You Lose

To cancel Coinbase One, sign in to your account, open the Coinbase One section from the menu, select Manage, and choose Cancel membership. That path works if you subscribed directly through Coinbase’s website or app. If you signed up through the Apple App Store or Google Play, Coinbase’s own menu won’t cancel anything for you: the billing lives with Apple or Google, and you have to cancel in their subscription settings instead. Check your original signup email if you’re not sure which applies.

Cancel Directly Through Coinbase

If you subscribed on coinbase.com or through the in-app purchase flow, the process takes about two minutes.1Coinbase Help. Coinbase One Billing Plans

  • Sign in to Coinbase on a browser or the mobile app.
  • On mobile, tap the menu icon and select Coinbase One. On a browser, click Coinbase One in the navigation bar.
  • Select Manage, then Cancel membership.
  • Confirm when prompted.

Coinbase runs a short sequence of confirmation screens. Follow every prompt until you see a clear message that the membership has been canceled. If your account still shows the subscription as active afterward, the request didn’t register and you’ll need to go through the steps again.

You need to be signed in to cancel. If you’re locked out, there’s no way through the standard flow; Coinbase’s help documentation directs locked-out users to contact Coinbase Support directly.2Coinbase Help. Close Your Account

Cancel Through Apple or Google Play

If you originally signed up on an iPhone or iPad through the App Store, cancel in Apple’s subscription settings:3Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap your name, then Subscriptions.
  • Tap the Coinbase One entry.
  • Tap Cancel Subscription.

If you subscribed on Android through Google Play, use Google’s subscription settings:4Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play

  • Open your device’s Settings app.
  • Tap Google, then your name, then Manage your Google Account.
  • Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Manage subscriptions.
  • Select Coinbase One and follow the prompts.

Once the platform confirms, the renewal date changes to an expiration date, meaning no further charges will process. One trap catches a lot of people: deleting the Coinbase app from your phone does not cancel the subscription. The billing relationship is with Apple or Google, not the app, and charges keep coming until you cancel through their settings.

Pause Instead of Cancel

Coinbase lets you pause your subscription for one month rather than end it. During the pause, you aren’t billed and most benefits are suspended, though Preferred and Premium members keep priority support even while paused.1Coinbase Help. Coinbase One Billing Plans

The path is the same as canceling: Coinbase One, then Manage, then Pause instead of Cancel membership. Billing resumes automatically when the month ends unless you cancel during that window. Useful if you want to skip a single billing cycle without losing your plan or signing up again later.

Canceling a Free Trial

If you’re on a Coinbase One free trial, cancel on or before the last day of the trial to avoid being automatically charged for a paid monthly plan.5Coinbase Help. Coinbase One Free Trial The steps are the same as any other cancellation. Don’t leave it to the final day if you can help it.

Refunds and Timing

Whether cancellation timing matters depends on your billing cycle. On a monthly plan, canceling stops the next month’s charge. You keep your benefits through the end of the current billing period.

Annual plans work differently. Coinbase does not refund annual plans. If you cancel partway through the year, you keep your benefits until the annual billing cycle ends, but you won’t get money back for the unused months.1Coinbase Help. Coinbase One Billing Plans For annual subscribers, the urgency of canceling early is low since your benefits run the full term anyway.

What You Keep and What You Lose

No matter which route you use to cancel, your Coinbase One benefits stay active until the end of your current billing period.1Coinbase Help. Coinbase One Billing Plans That covers zero-fee trading, the boosted USDC yield, staking reward boosts, and priority support if your tier included it. When that period ends, the account reverts to a standard Coinbase account with normal trading fees.

Your underlying Coinbase account and any crypto you hold are unaffected. You can still buy, sell, and transfer as usual. What ends is the fee waiver, the enhanced support, and the account protection coverage.

Account Protection Ends

Coinbase One’s account protection reimburses you if your account is compromised through an unauthorized takeover, with coverage tied to your plan tier.6Coinbase. Coinbase One Once your subscription lapses, that protection ends. Separately, weakening your two-factor authentication while you’re a member, such as switching from a passkey or security key to SMS, can reduce or deactivate your coverage within 14 days.7Coinbase Help.
