To cancel Apple TV on Roku, first check your bank or credit card statement to see who bills you. If the charge reads “Roku,” turn off auto-renew inside your Roku account. If it reads “apple.com/bill” or mentions iTunes, cancel through Apple instead. Canceling in the wrong place is the single most common reason people keep getting charged after they think they’re done.
Check Who Bills You Before You Do Anything
The merchant name on your statement tells you where to cancel. A “Roku” descriptor means Roku manages the subscription. An “apple.com/bill” or iTunes descriptor means Apple does. Roku cannot stop a payment Apple controls, and Apple cannot cancel a subscription Roku bills for. If you signed up through a mobile carrier bundle such as T-Mobile, the cancellation lives in that carrier’s account dashboard, not in Roku or Apple.
Cancel Through Roku
If Roku bills you, use either the device or the website. Both do the same thing.
On Your Roku Device
From the home screen, highlight the Apple TV app. Press the Star button on the remote to open the context menu. Select Manage subscription, then choose Turn off auto-renew.
You will not see a button labeled “cancel subscription.” Turning off auto-renew is how Roku cancels. Once it’s off, you won’t be billed again after the current period ends.
On the Roku Website
Go to my.roku.com/subscriptions and sign in. Under Active subscriptions, find Apple TV+ and select it. Click Manage subscription, then Turn off auto-renew.1Roku Support. Manage or Cancel Subscriptions on Roku
The website is useful when the Roku device isn’t nearby or the TV interface is giving you trouble.
Cancel Through Apple
If Apple bills you directly, Roku has no ability to stop the charges. You cancel through Apple’s own system, on the web or on an Apple device.
On the Web
Go to tv.apple.com and sign in with your Apple account. Click the account icon, then Settings. Scroll to Subscriptions and select Manage. Choose Cancel Subscription.2Apple Support. How to Cancel Apple TV
On an iPhone, iPad, or Mac
On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then tap Subscriptions. Find Apple TV+ and tap Cancel Subscription. You can also open account.apple.com/account/manage/section/subscriptions in any browser to reach the same page.3Apple Support. Subscriptions and Billing
If you can’t find a receipt from Apple but think Apple bills you, Apple recommends checking your bank statement for the billing company name. If someone other than Apple charges you, contact that company to cancel.4Apple. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple
Deleting the App Does Not Cancel the Subscription
Removing the Apple TV channel from your Roku home screen does not stop billing. Subscriptions auto-renew unless you specifically turn off auto-renew inside the subscription settings.1Roku Support. Manage or Cancel Subscriptions on Roku If you deleted the app months ago and only just noticed the charges never stopped, that’s almost certainly what happened.
What Happens After You Cancel
You Keep Access Until the Period Ends
You can still watch Apple TV+ content until your current billing cycle expires. If you paid on the first and canceled on the fifteenth, you have the rest of that month. Apple TV+ costs $12.99 per month, so there’s no reason to time the cancellation to the last day.
Roku Doesn’t Give Partial Refunds
Roku’s policy is that all subscriptions purchased through Roku are prepaid, final, and non-refundable. No refunds are given for partial-term cancellations. You keep access through the end of the billing period, but unused days are not refunded.5Roku Support. Roku Content and Subscription Refund Policy
Confirm It Worked
Check your email for a confirmation message from Roku or Apple, and save it. If a charge shows up later, that email is proof the subscription was supposed to have stopped. You can also return to your subscription settings on either platform and verify the status reads as canceled rather than active.
Canceling a Free Trial
If you activated Apple TV+ through a free trial that came with a new Apple device, that trial typically lasts three months. It converts to a paid subscription at $12.99 per month when it expires unless you cancel first. You can cancel right after activating the trial and still keep access for the full three months, which is the safest approach if you’re only testing the service.
