To cancel an ESET subscription, turn off auto-renewal through whichever platform you originally paid: the ESET eStore for direct purchases, or the Apple App Store, Google Play, Amazon, or PayPal if you subscribed through one of those. Learning how to cancel your ESET subscription usually takes about five minutes once you have your Activation Key or Public ID in front of you. Your protection stays active through the end of the billing period you already paid for; canceling only stops the next charge.
What to Have Ready
You need your Activation Key or Public ID. Both were sent in the confirmation email from your original purchase. The Activation Key is a five-block alphanumeric string formatted XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX; the Public ID is a shorter three-block code formatted XXX-XXX-XXX.1ESET Online Help. Where Can I Find My License If that email is gone, open the ESET application on Windows and click “Help and support” — your Subscription code is displayed there.2ESET Knowledgebase. Locate My Subscription Code to Submit an ESET Technical Support Request
You also need to know where you bought the subscription. The cancellation path is entirely different depending on whether the purchase went through ESET directly, an app store, Amazon, or another retailer. If you have no purchase records and can’t access the original email, submit a technical support request at eset.com/us/support/contact/ to recover your account.3ESET. Canceling in the ESET eStore
If you bought directly from ESET’s website, the eStore is where you disable auto-renewal. The step that catches most people is the email verification: the auto-renewal toggle stays hidden until you complete it.4ESET Knowledgebase. Manage Auto-Renewal Settings for Your ESET Subscriptions
- Sign in to the ESET eStore with your Activation Key or Public ID.
- Click “Subscription Management” in the top left corner.
- Click “Verify with your email,” then click “Send.” Open the authentication email ESET sends you and click “Verify email.”
- Back in the eStore, scroll to “Payment details” and click the toggle next to “Auto-renewal” to disable it.
- In the confirmation dialog, check the box saying you’d prefer to renew manually, click “Save Settings,” then click “OK.”
The subscription remains active through the end of your current billing period. No further charges are made, and protection continues until the paid term expires.
Starting from ESET HOME
ESET HOME does not cancel a subscription on its own. If you start there, sign in, click “Subscriptions” in the side menu, choose your subscription, click “Open subscription,” then click “Manage subscription.” That link redirects you into the eStore, where you complete the same verification and toggle steps above.5ESET Online Help. If the Auto-Renewal Toggle Doesn’t Appear
Some subscriptions sold through distributors or retail partners don’t show the toggle in the eStore. If it’s missing after you’ve signed in and verified your email, the subscription was likely purchased through a third-party distributor. Contact that distributor to cancel, or ask ESET support to help identify the billing source.4ESET Knowledgebase. Manage Auto-Renewal Settings for Your ESET Subscriptions
Canceling Through Apple, Google Play, or Amazon
If the subscription runs through an app store or Amazon, ESET’s portal cannot cancel it. Those platforms handle billing on their own systems.
Apple
On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name at the top, then tap “Subscriptions.” Find ESET in the list and tap “Cancel Subscription.”6Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription from Apple Apple stops charging your Apple ID at the next renewal, and coverage continues through the end of the current cycle.
Google Play
On Android, open Settings, tap “Google,” then your name, then “Manage your Google Account.” Tap “Payments & subscriptions,” then “Manage subscriptions.” Find ESET in the list and cancel.7Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play To request a refund, go to play.google.com, click your profile picture, then “Payments & subscriptions,” then “Budget & order history.” Find the ESET order and click “Report a problem.” Google typically decides on refunds within one to four days.8Google Play Help. Amazon
In your Amazon account, go to “Your Memberships & Subscriptions” and find the ESET entry. Click “Cancel Subscription.” Amazon then offers two choices: “End Now” to stop immediately, or “End on [date]” to keep the service through the current billing period. Amazon does not offer prorated refunds for the unused portion, though some publishers permit a full refund within a short grace period listed on the product page.9Amazon. Canceling a PayPal Automatic Payment
If you paid with PayPal and the subscription is set up as an automatic payment, you can revoke ESET’s billing authorization from your PayPal account. On the website, go to Settings, click “Payments,” then select “Automatic Payments” (sometimes labeled “Subscriptions and saved businesses”). Find ESET and cancel the automatic payment. In the app, tap the menu icon, then “Subscriptions,” tap the ESET entry, tap “Manage,” and select “Stop Paying with PayPal.”10PayPal. Automatic Payment – Update Recurring Payments
Cutting off PayPal stops future charges, but also disable auto-renewal in the ESET eStore if you can. Otherwise, ESET may keep trying to charge a payment method that no longer works, which can generate failed-payment notices.
Business Licenses and MSP Customers
Business-tier licenses managed through the ESET PROTECT Hub follow a different process. Sign in to the Hub, click “Subscriptions,” select the one you want to remove, click the three-dot menu, and select “Remove subscription.” If devices should keep running their current ESET solutions after removal, leave the “Release all active subscription units and deactivate associated solutions” checkbox unchecked before clicking “Remove.”11ESET Online Help. Refunds and What Happens After You Cancel
ESET offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on products bought from the ESET eStore.13ESET. Return Policy Cancel inside that 30-day window and you can request a full refund by contacting ESET support. Once ESET processes the refund, it can take up to one full credit card billing cycle for the credit to appear on your statement.14ESET. Return Policy After the 30-day window closes, ESET does not offer prorated refunds for the remaining time on the subscription. For subscriptions bought through Apple, Google Play, or Amazon, refunds are controlled by those platforms rather than ESET.
Whenever you cancel, ESET protection stays active through the end of the current paid term. Virus definitions and real-time scanning don’t stop the moment you flip the toggle. Once the term expires, the software stops receiving updates and protection degrades quickly. At that point, renew, switch to different security software, or uninstall ESET.
If any of these steps stall — the toggle won’t appear, the verification email doesn’t arrive, or the account situation is unusual — U.S. customers can call ESET at +1 (866) 343-3738 and select option 2 for support, or open a chat or email ticket at eset.com/us/support/contact/. Have your Activation Key or Public ID ready before you make contact.15ESET. Contact ESET
When to Cancel
ESET sends renewal reminder emails starting 30 days before a subscription is set to auto-renew.16ESET. Auto-Renewal Policy Cancel as soon as you get that first reminder. Waiting until the final day is risky, because payment processing can trigger before midnight; once the charge posts, you’re filing a refund request instead of a simple cancellation.
Auto-renewal is on by default for subscriptions bought through the ESET eStore.4ESET Knowledgebase. Manage Auto-Renewal Settings for Your ESET Subscriptions If you already know you only want the software for one term, turn auto-renewal off right after purchase. Disabling it early doesn’t shorten your current subscription. It just prevents the next charge.
