How to Cancel Amped Fitness Membership: Steps, Fees, and Refunds

To cancel an Amped Fitness membership, submit written notice either in person at your home gym or by certified mail to the corporate office, then verify the cancellation went through. The exact notice period, early termination fee, and accepted method depend on the agreement you signed, because the company’s terms of service defer to “the cancellation policy outlined at the time of sign-up.”1Amped Fitness. Terms of Service So the first step is not writing a letter. It’s finding your contract.

Pull Your Membership Agreement First

Your signed contract sets the notice window, the length of any initial commitment, whether the membership rolls to month-to-month afterward, and the dollar amount of any buyout fee. Two members at the same location can owe different things because tiers and sign-up promotions vary.

Amped Fitness uses ABC Fitness Solutions for billing, and your account details live in the ABC member portal (MYiCLUBonline) rather than on the Amped Fitness site. If you never set up a login or can’t find your paperwork, ABC Fitness member support can send a copy of your agreement or confirm your account number at 888-827-9262 or customercare@abcfitness.com.2ABC Fitness. When you have the agreement in front of you, check four things: the initial commitment length, the required notice before the next billing date (30 days is typical), whether the contract auto-renews month-to-month, and the early termination fee.

How to Submit the Cancellation

The Amped Fitness website has a contact form with “Manage your current membership” and “Billing and payments” options.3Amped Fitness. Contact Amped Fitness Use it to ask for location-specific instructions if you want, but a form submission on its own may not meet the formal written-notice requirement in your contract. Pick one of the two methods below and follow through.

In Person at Your Home Gym

Bring a photo ID and your membership number. Ask the manager on duty to process the cancellation while you wait, and get a written receipt that shows the date you submitted the request, the date the membership will officially end, and the name of the person who handled it. If staff tell you only a specific manager can cancel and that person isn’t in, write down the date, time, and name of whoever you spoke with. That paper trail matters later if a charge you didn’t expect shows up.

By Certified Mail to Corporate

If your contract requires written notice by mail, send it to:

Amped Fitness, 6798 Crosswinds Dr. N, Suite 106-B, Saint Petersburg, Florida 33710

Use USPS certified mail with return receipt requested. Your letter should include your full name, membership or account number, the date you want the membership to end, and a plain statement that you are canceling. Keep a copy of the letter, the certified mail tracking number, and the green return receipt card when it comes back.

Through ABC Fitness Solutions

Because ABC handles the billing, calling 888-827-9262 or emailing customercare@abcfitness.com can help confirm whether a cancellation has actually been entered in the system and what your final billing date is.2ABC Fitness. Contact – Gym Member Support ABC is the processor, not the gym, so they may still route you back to your location to submit the formal request.

If You Just Signed Up: The Cooling-Off Window

New members usually have a short window to back out penalty-free. Florida law, which covers most Amped Fitness locations, gives you three business days (excluding weekends and holidays) to cancel a health studio contract and get a refund of prepaid fees minus a prorated amount for any days you used the gym. The refund must be issued within 30 days of your cancellation notice.4The Florida Legislature. Florida Statutes 501.017 – Health Studios Contracts Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas each have their own consumer protection statutes with similar three-day windows.

One boundary worth knowing: the federal FTC Cooling-Off Rule does not apply to a contract you signed inside the gym. It only covers sales made away from the seller’s permanent business location.5Federal Trade Commission. Buyers Remorse – The FTCs Cooling-Off Rule May Help Your protection here comes from state law.

What Cancellation Will Cost

The cost depends on whether you’re still inside your initial commitment or already on month-to-month billing.

  • Early termination fee. Cancel before the commitment period ends and your contract likely includes a buyout. Amped Fitness doesn’t publish a standard figure, and it varies by tier and location. Check your agreement or ask ABC Fitness for the exact amount.
  • One more month of dues. Most gym contracts require 30 days’ notice before the next billing date. Submit notice mid-cycle and you’ll typically owe one more full month, with gym access continuing through the end of it.
  • Annual maintenance fee. Many Amped memberships include an annual enhancement or maintenance fee billed once a year. If it has already posted and is unpaid, or falls within your notice period, you’ll owe it. The Amped Fitness terms note that refunds depend on the plan, and the company does not publicly confirm whether annual fees are prorated on cancellation.1Amped Fitness. Terms of Service

Whatever you legitimately owe has to be settled before the account closes. An unpaid balance can be sent to a third-party collection agency, which adds collection fees and can hit your credit.

Canceling for Medical or Relocation Reasons

Most contracts allow early cancellation without a buyout fee if a medical condition prevents you from using the gym, or if you move far enough away that using it isn’t practical. Florida law also requires health studio contracts to allow cancellation with a prorated refund if the gym itself closes or moves more than five driving miles away from your original location.4The Florida Legislature. Florida Statutes 501.017 – Health Studios Contracts

For a medical cancellation, get a letter from your doctor on letterhead stating that you cannot participate in physical exercise, with a clear recommendation that the membership be canceled. It doesn’t need to disclose your full medical history, but it should be specific enough to show the limitation is real, and it should include the doctor’s signature and contact information so the gym can verify it.

For relocation, your contract will spell out the minimum distance and the documentation required, typically a new lease, utility bill, or similar proof of address. Have those documents assembled before you submit the request. Otherwise the gym can reject the paperwork as incomplete and keep billing you while you scramble.

Active-Duty Military: SCRA Termination

The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act gives active-duty servicemembers the right to terminate a gym membership without any early termination fee if you receive military orders relocating you for 90 days or more to a location that doesn’t support the contract, or if you receive permanent change of station orders. The contract must have been signed before the orders were issued.6Office of the Law Revision Counsel. United States Code Title 50 Section 3956 – Termination of Certain Consumer Contracts

To use this right, submit a written termination notice with a copy of your orders. The gym cannot charge an early termination fee, though you still owe any taxes and past-due balances that accrued before termination. If family members are on your account and accompany you to the new duty station, the termination extends to them.6Office of the Law Revision Counsel. United States Code Title 50 Section 3956 – Termination of Certain Consumer Contracts

Verify the Cancellation Actually Went Through

Submitting the request is half the job. Watch your bank or card statements for at least two full billing cycles after your membership should have ended. The clearest proof of closure is a confirmation email from Amped Fitness or ABC Fitness Solutions, so save it. If nothing arrives within a couple of weeks of the effective cancellation date, follow up with both the gym and ABC Fitness to confirm the cancellation was entered.

If you mailed the notice, hold on to the certified mail tracking record and the return receipt indefinitely. Those documents prove the gym received your notice on a specific date, which is what you need if a dispute comes up.

If Charges Keep Coming After Cancellation

Contact the gym and ABC Fitness right away with your cancellation confirmation and delivery receipt. Sometimes it’s a processing lag. If it isn’t, you have a few tools.

Stop the Bank Draft

Under the Electronic Fund Transfer Act, you can revoke authorization for preauthorized electronic fund transfers by notifying your bank, orally or in writing, at least three business days before the next scheduled payment.7Office of the Law Revision Counsel. United States Code Title 15 Section 1693e – Preauthorized Transfers Banks often charge a stop-payment fee, around $30, though some waive it. If the bank requests written confirmation after your call, send it within 14 days to keep the stop-payment order in effect.

A stop-payment does not cancel the membership itself. If a legitimate balance is still owed under the contract, the gym can send it to collections. Use this as a defensive measure alongside proper cancellation, not as a replacement for it.

Dispute Card Charges

If you pay by credit card, dispute post-cancellation charges directly with your card issuer. File a chargeback with your cancellation confirmation, the certified mail receipt, and a timeline showing when you canceled versus when the charge posted. The issuer will give the merchant a window to respond, so keep your documentation organized.

File a Consumer Complaint

If the gym refuses to honor a cancellation, file a complaint with your state’s attorney general or consumer protection division. In Florida, the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services handles health studio complaints. The FTC’s Click-to-Cancel rule, finalized in late 2024, requires businesses to make canceling a recurring membership at least as easy as signing up.8Federal Trade Commission. Federal Trade Commission Announces Final Click-to-Cancel Rule Making It Easier for Consumers to End Recurring Subscriptions and Memberships A gym that makes cancellation significantly harder than joining may be in violation.
