How to Cancel Amazon Subscriptions on iPhone or Android

To cancel an Amazon subscription on an iPhone or Android phone, open the Amazon Shopping app or a mobile browser, go to Your Account, then Memberships & Subscriptions, and cancel from there. The one catch: if you originally signed up through the App Store or Google Play, Amazon can’t stop the charge, and you’ll need to cancel from your phone’s own subscription settings instead.

See What You’re Actually Paying For

Open the Amazon Shopping app and tap the profile icon at the bottom of the screen. Tap Your Account, then Memberships & Subscriptions. This page lists every recurring charge tied to your Amazon account: Prime, Kindle Unlimited, Audible, Prime Video channel add-ons, and anything else active.

Each listing shows the next renewal date and the amount. Look closely at who’s doing the billing. If a subscription is billed through Apple or Google Play, canceling it inside Amazon won’t stop the payments. That distinction decides which set of steps below you follow.

Cancel in the Amazon Shopping App

For subscriptions billed directly by Amazon, the app handles it in a few taps. From Memberships & Subscriptions, find the one you want to end, tap Manage Subscription, then select Cancel Subscription under Advanced Controls.1Amazon. Manage Your Amazon Subscriptions

Amazon will move you through several screens before the cancellation actually goes through, and at least one of them is a retention offer such as a discount or a free month. If price wasn’t your reason for leaving, keep tapping through to the final confirmation screen. These offers are only available if you’re on a full-price plan and haven’t accepted a retention discount in the past 12 months.

For Prime, you can also go straight to the Cancel Your Prime Membership page inside your account settings and follow the prompts there.2Amazon. Cancel Your Amazon Prime Membership

Prime Video Channels Need a Browser

Streaming channels you added through Prime Video, like Max, Paramount+, or Starz, often can’t be managed inside the Amazon Shopping app. If you try, you’ll usually see a message pointing you to a web browser.

On your phone’s browser, open your Prime Video account settings and pick Your Subscriptions from the top menu. Find the channel, tap Unsubscribe, and confirm. The confirmation screen shows the date your access ends, and you can reverse the cancellation any time before then. If Apple handles billing for the channel, cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid being billed for the next cycle.3Prime Video. Cancel Your Prime Video Add-On Subscription

Cancel From a Mobile Browser

If the app isn’t cooperating, open Safari, Chrome, or whatever browser you use, go to amazon.com, sign in, and navigate to Account, then Memberships & Subscriptions. The layout looks different, but the same subscriptions appear.

The browser is also the only way to manage Appstore subscriptions from Amazon’s side. Go to Your Account, choose Your Apps under Digital Content, then tap Your Subscriptions to turn off auto-renewal.4Amazon. Manage Your Appstore Subscriptions from the Website

If Apple or Google Bills You, Cancel There

When you signed up through the App Store or Google Play, the charge comes from Apple or Google. Amazon can’t cancel it for you.

On iPhone

Open the Settings app, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. You’ll see everything billing through your Apple ID. Tap the Amazon-related subscription and select Cancel Subscription.5Apple Support. On Android

Open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon, then select Payments & Subscriptions. Choose the subscription and tap Cancel Subscription. Uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription tied to it. You have to cancel through the Play Store or the charges keep coming.

Subscribe and Save Is a Separate Page

Subscribe & Save deliveries won’t appear on Memberships & Subscriptions. Go to Your Subscribe & Save Items instead, open the Subscriptions tab, pick the product, and tap Cancel Subscription.7Amazon. Cancel Your Subscribe and Save Subscription Each product has to be canceled individually.

Consider Pausing Prime Instead

If you’re canceling Prime just to save money for a stretch, pausing keeps your account history and settings in place. On a monthly plan you can pause for one month, after which it auto-resumes. On a monthly or annual plan you can pause for up to one year and resume manually.

While paused, you aren’t billed and you don’t have Prime benefits, and any subscriptions tied to Prime, like Prime Video channels, also stop. Stay paused for more than 365 consecutive days and Amazon cancels the membership entirely.8Amazon. Pause Your Amazon Prime Membership When you resume, you pay whatever the current rate is, not necessarily what you were paying before.

Refunds After You Cancel

Amazon’s refund rules for Prime turn on timing and usage. Cancel within three business days of signing up or converting from a free trial and you get a full refund, though Amazon may deduct the value of any Prime benefits you used during those three days. After that window, you only get a full refund if you haven’t made any eligible purchases or used any Prime benefits since your last charge.9Amazon. Amazon Prime Terms and Conditions

In practice, that means most longtime members won’t qualify. Stream a single show or take free shipping on one order since your last renewal, and the refund is off the table. Cancel right after you notice the charge, before you use any benefits for that cycle.

Confirm It Went Through

You should get a confirmation email. Save it. For most subscriptions you keep access through the end of the billing period you already paid for. Audible works this way too: cancel in June on an annual plan and you still have access through December.6Audible. Manage App Store Subscription

Kindle Unlimited is the exception. Once your billing date passes, you lose access to every title you had checked out.10Amazon. Anything borrowed through the Unlimited catalog disappears, so finish what you’re reading before that date.

Check Memberships & Subscriptions once more after canceling to confirm the subscription shows as canceled or pending expiration. If it still looks active, especially for anything billed by Apple or Google, verify inside those settings too. The charge stops where the billing lives.
