How to Cancel a Retake Subscription on iPhone or Android

To cancel a Retake subscription, go to whichever platform processed your original payment — Apple, Google Play, or Retake’s own website — and cancel from inside that account. Deleting the app does not stop the billing. The steps below cover all three routes and what to do about refunds after you cancel.

Find Out Who Is Actually Charging You

Pull up your bank or credit card statement and look at the merchant name on the most recent Retake charge. That name tells you where to cancel.

  • “Apple.com/bill” or similar means Apple manages the subscription.
  • “Google Play” means Google handles it.
  • “Retake” as the merchant means you subscribed on the company’s website.

This step isn’t optional. Canceling inside the Retake app, or even on Retake’s website, will not stop charges that flow through Apple or Google. Those platforms own the billing relationship, and only they can shut it off.

Cancel on iPhone or iPad

If Apple is billing you, the subscription lives in your Apple ID settings.

  • Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Tap your name at the top of the screen.
  • Tap Subscriptions.
  • Tap Retake in the list of active subscriptions.
  • Tap Cancel Subscription. You may need to scroll down to find the button.

If there’s no Cancel button and you instead see an expiration date in red, the subscription is already canceled.1Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple You keep access to any premium features through the end of the current billing period, then the account drops to whatever free tier Retake offers.

Cancel on Android

Google gives you two paths. The most direct one runs through your device settings:

  • Open the Settings app on your Android device.
  • Tap Google, then tap your name.
  • Tap Manage your Google Account.
  • Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Manage subscriptions.
  • Tap Retake and select Cancel subscription.

You can also open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon, then go to Payments & subscriptions and select Subscriptions to find Retake.2Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play Either path ends in the same place. Access continues until the paid period ends.

Cancel Through the Retake Website

If your statement shows “Retake” directly as the merchant, cancel through the web portal. Log in to your account and open the settings menu; the cancellation control usually sits under a section called Account, Billing, or Subscription. The exact layout changes as the site updates, but the option is typically a button or link inside your plan details.

Click the cancel or end subscription option and confirm through whatever prompt appears. Retake may offer a discount or ask why you’re leaving. You don’t owe a detailed reason. Watch for a confirmation page or email at the end and save it — that’s your proof if a charge shows up later.

Deleting the App Does Not Cancel the Subscription

This is the mistake that costs people money. Removing Retake from your phone does nothing to your billing. The subscription is attached to your Apple or Google account, not to the app on your device. You can delete Retake everywhere you have it installed and the charges keep coming until you cancel through the steps above.1Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple

If you uninstalled the app weeks or months ago and only now noticed the charges, open your subscription settings first and cancel. Then go after a refund for what already went through.

Getting a Refund After You Cancel

Whether you can recover money already charged depends on which platform billed you and how much time has passed.

Apple

Apple handles refund requests at reportaproblem.apple.com. Sign in with the Apple ID tied to the purchase, find the Retake charge in your history, and submit the request. Apple usually responds within 24 to 48 hours.3Apple Support. Request a Refund for Apps or Content That You Bought From Apple If approved, the money can take longer to appear depending on your payment method. Apple doesn’t publish a strict cutoff, but filing sooner improves your odds.

Google Play

Timing drives the Google Play process. Within 48 hours of a charge, you can request a refund directly through Google. After 48 hours, Google sends you to the app developer.4Google Play Help. Request a Refund on Google Play For charges you didn’t authorize, Google’s policy allows a report within 120 days of the transaction.5Google Play Help. Learn About Google Play Refund Policies

Direct Website Purchases

If you paid Retake directly, you have to ask their support team. Refund terms for direct purchases vary. Screenshot your cancellation confirmation, note the date you asked for the refund, and keep every email. If Retake refuses and you believe the charge was unauthorized or the billing terms were unclear, dispute it with your card issuer or bank.

If You’re Still in a Free Trial

Free trials convert to paid subscriptions automatically unless you cancel before the trial ends. Give yourself a day or two of buffer, because a same-day cancellation can process too late to stop the first charge.

Federal law backs you up here. Under the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act, a company selling through an online negative option feature has to clearly disclose the material terms up front, get your informed consent before charging, and offer a simple way to stop recurring charges.6Office of the Law Revision Counsel. United States Code Title 15 – 8403 Auto-renewal terms buried in fine print, or a cancellation path made deliberately hard, violates that law.

What to Do If Retake Won’t Let You Cancel

The FTC’s position is that canceling a subscription should be at least as easy as signing up. If you enrolled online in two clicks, a company shouldn’t route you through a phone call, a long series of screens, or a retention pitch to leave.7Federal Trade Commission. If you’re stuck, three moves usually get you unstuck. Cancel through Apple or Google if either one is your billing platform, since that route bypasses anything Retake’s site puts in your way. If charges keep hitting after you canceled, dispute them with your bank or card issuer as unauthorized. And you can file a complaint at ftc.gov, which feeds the record regulators use when they act against companies that make cancellation difficult.
