To cancel an Amazon Prime free trial, sign in to Amazon, open your Prime membership page, and select the option to end the membership; click through the retention screens until you reach a final confirmation. The standard trial runs 30 days, and Amazon will automatically charge $14.99 per month or $139 per year the moment it ends, so the cancellation only matters if you do it before that date.1Amazon. Sign Up for the Amazon Prime Free Trial You keep your Prime benefits through the rest of the trial period after you cancel, so there’s no reason to wait.

If You Signed Up Through Apple or Google Play
Amazon cannot cancel a Prime or Prime Video subscription that was billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. You have to cancel through the app store that took the payment.
On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, go to Subscriptions, and cancel the Amazon subscription there. Apple requires you to cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge.3Amazon. Cancel Your Prime Video Add-On Subscription On Android, open the Play Store app, tap your profile, choose “Payments & subscriptions,” then “Subscriptions,” and cancel from there. Contacting Amazon in either case won’t help, because the charge is coming from the app store rather than Amazon.
Confirming the Cancellation
Amazon shows an on-screen confirmation and sends an email to the address on your account. Save that email. If a charge appears later, it’s your proof that you canceled in time.
Your Prime benefits, including free shipping and Prime Video, stay active through the end of the 30-day trial.1Amazon. Sign Up for the Amazon Prime Free Trial Your Prime membership page will show that the membership is set not to renew, so you can check back any time to verify.
If Amazon Already Charged You
If the trial rolled over and you were charged, you may still get a refund. It depends on timing and whether you used any benefits after the charge posted.
- Within 3 business days of being charged, Amazon issues a full refund of the membership fee, though it may deduct the value of any Prime benefits you used during those 3 days.
- After 3 business days, you get a full refund only if you haven’t made any eligible purchases or used any Prime benefits since the charge.
Memberships redeemed through a gift code or promotional code aren’t refundable. If a third party signed you up, such as a wireless carrier or internet provider bundling Prime with your plan, contact that company for cancellation and refund options.4Amazon. Amazon Prime Terms and Conditions
Prime Student and Prime Access Trials
The cancellation steps are the same, but the trial length and post-trial price aren’t.
Prime Student, also called Prime for Young Adults, comes with a six-month free trial rather than 30 days, and the rate after the trial is $7.49 per month.5Amazon. Amazon Prime Student The longer window makes it easier to forget the deadline, so set a reminder.
Prime Access is Amazon’s discounted membership for customers who qualify through programs like EBT or Medicaid or through income verification. The trial is 30 days and the post-trial rate is $6.99 per month.6About Amazon. Learn About Prime Access, One of Amazons Discounted Prime Memberships
