To cancel your MailerLite account, open Account Settings, go to Plan and Billing, click Cancel Subscription, and confirm. Your paid plan runs until the end of the current billing cycle, then the account automatically drops to the Free plan and no further charges are made.1MailerLite. What Happens When I Cancel My Subscription One thing to understand up front: canceling and deleting are two different things. Canceling stops the billing. Your account, subscribers, campaigns, and reports stay put on the Free plan. If you want everything gone, you have to delete the account separately after you cancel.
Export What You Want to Keep First
Once the downgrade kicks in, access to some premium features and historical data shrinks. Pull anything you care about while you still have full access.
- Subscribers: on the Subscribers page you can filter by status (active, unsubscribed, unconfirmed, bounced, or spam complaints) and export as CSV or CSV-for-Excel.2MailerLite. How To Export Subscribers
- Campaign reports: there’s no bulk export, so save or screenshot individual reports you want to keep.
- Uploaded files: images and documents in the file manager become inaccessible if you later delete the account. Move them to local storage.
- Invoices: in Account Settings under Plan and Billing, the Invoices tab lets you download each one as a PDF. Worth keeping for tax records.3MailerLite. Everything About Subscription Plan and Billing

What Happens After the Downgrade
Subscribers, campaigns, and reports all stay in the account after the drop to Free. You don’t lose data by canceling. One snag catches people: if you have more than 500 active subscribers when the downgrade happens, you’ll need to reduce the list to 500 or fewer. Until you do, sending campaigns may be restricted.1MailerLite. What Happens When I Cancel My Subscription
The account is still there. You can still log in and send within Free plan limits. If that’s not what you want, keep reading.
Refund Policy and Timing
MailerLite does not pro-rate refunds for unused time, whether you cancel mid-cycle, the day after a renewal, or because you picked the wrong plan. The company states no exceptions are made. A refund is only required if MailerLite terminates service without cause during a period you’ve already paid for.4MailerLite. About MailerLite’s Refund Policy
Practical consequence: time your cancellation. If you cancel the day after a renewal charge, you’ve paid for a full cycle you won’t use, and none of it comes back.
Pause or Stay on Free Instead
If the reason for canceling is cost or a temporary break, two options avoid cancellation entirely.
You can pause the subscription for up to two months. You won’t be charged while paused, but the account reverts to Free plan limits during that window. After two months it auto-renews; the account owner gets a notification five days before, and you can renew earlier manually. Pausing is only available once per calendar year.3MailerLite. If you have 500 or fewer active subscribers, the Free plan may be enough on its own. It includes up to 12,000 monthly emails, one user seat, up to 10 landing pages, and one website.5MailerLite. Pricing You lose premium templates, advanced automations, and some reporting, but the data stays.
Deleting the Account Entirely
If you want the account removed rather than parked on Free, delete it after you cancel the subscription.
- Click your account name at the top of the page.
- If you have multiple MailerLite accounts, choose Switch account. If you only have one, you’ll see New account.
- Click the three dots next to the account name.
- Select Delete account.6MailerLite. How To Delete My Account
Order matters here. Cancel first, then delete. Deleting without canceling can leave you billed for a plan tied to an account you can no longer get into.
Full Data Erasure
Deleting the account removes it from the dashboard, and associated data is removed within 30 days.7MailerLite. I Can’t Log In – MailerLite For single-user accounts, MailerLite offers a Forget Me feature that triggers full deletion or anonymization of your personal data within 30 days. On accounts with multiple users, Forget Me erases only your individual data and leaves the account running for the others.
