How to Cancel a Gymnation Membership: 30-Day Notice and Fees

To cancel a GymNation membership, submit a request through the “Contact GymNation” page on the GymNation website and serve a 30-day notice period before it takes effect.¹ Phone calls, emails, and visits to the gym are not accepted. If you’re still inside a 12-month Core or Plus contract, you can only leave early for a short list of qualifying reasons, and you’ll need documents to prove them.

Submit the Request Through the Website

GymNation only processes cancellations submitted through the “Contact GymNation” page on their site. A request sent any other way will not be actioned, and your notice period does not start until the form comes through this page and any documents they ask for have been provided.¹

Fill out the form completely. Depending on your membership type, GymNation may come back to you asking for more information.² Submitting the form does not by itself cancel your membership. The request goes into a queue for review, and you should receive confirmation of its status by email or SMS within 72 hours.¹ Until that written confirmation arrives, treat your membership as still active. If nothing lands within 72 hours, chase it through the same contact page.

Do not cancel the recurring payment at your bank before you have confirmation. Stopping payment outside the formal process can trigger missed-payment fees, which is a separate and more expensive problem covered below.

The 30-Day Notice and Your Final Payment

Every GymNation cancellation carries a minimum 30 days’ notice, whether you’re month-to-month or on a 12-month contract.¹ Your access to the gym continues through those 30 days.

If a recurring payment is due inside that window, GymNation will still take it.² There is no way to time the request so as to avoid the last charge. The clock starts only when the request is processed and any required documents are in, so the earlier you submit, the less overlap you’ll pay for. The joining fee is non-refundable, and no partial refund of a monthly fee is issued outside the cooling-off rules below.³

Leaving a 12-Month Contract Early

Core and Plus members on a 12-month commitment cannot cancel simply because they’ve changed their mind. Early cancellation is limited to specific life circumstances, each requiring proof:³

Relocation, where your new permanent address is at least 30 km from any GymNation location. Proof such as a tenancy agreement in your name is required; a national address update alone is not enough.
Long-term illness or injury, evidenced by a written opinion from a doctor or qualified medical practitioner stating that you cannot exercise for three months or longer. The letter must be dated within 30 days of your cancellation request.
Permanent departure from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, or Bahrain, supported by a one-way flight ticket and proof of visa cancellation.
Pregnancy, with written medical proof.
Redundancy, confirmed by a letter from your employer bearing the company stamp. The redundancy must have occurred after your GymNation joining date. Quitting or being dismissed for disciplinary reasons does not qualify.

None of these cancellations takes effect until GymNation has reviewed the documents and sent written confirmation. If the paperwork is incomplete or falls short of their standards, the 30-day clock does not start.¹

The 14-Day Cooling-Off Period for Online Sign-Ups

If you joined online rather than at the gym, you have 14 days to cancel and receive a full refund. Once you visit the gym for the first time within those 14 days, the window shrinks to 24 hours from that first visit.³

Members who signed up in person at the gym have no cooling-off period.

What It Costs to Stop Paying Without Cancelling

Walking away without going through the cancellation page is the most expensive way to leave. If a payment bounces or your card is declined, GymNation charges an administration fee of AED 200 in the UAE, SAR 200 in Saudi Arabia, or BHD 20 in Bahrain per missed payment, and late fees continue to accrue with each further missed payment.³

Fall more than 30 days behind and GymNation reserves the right to bill you the entire remaining value of the contract immediately, with no further notice. From there, the debt can be handed to a third-party collection agency or pursued in court, and the collection costs, including tracing fees if you’ve moved without updating your contact information, are added to what you owe.³

Even if you never intend to use the gym again, use the cancellation page. A few minutes on the form is cheaper than the fees that follow a lapsed payment.
