To cancel a Canva subscription, you have to cancel wherever the payment actually originates: Canva’s website if Canva bills you directly, the App Store if you signed up on an iPhone or iPad, or Google Play if you signed up on Android. Canceling in the wrong place does nothing, and the charges keep coming.
Check Who’s Billing You First
Look at your bank or credit card statement. Canva charges appear under names like “Canva,” “APPLE*Canva,” “GOOGLE*Canva,” “Ebx*Canva,” or “Canva UK Operations Ltd.”1Canva. Pay Using Credit or Debit Card The prefix tells you everything. If “APPLE” or “GOOGLE” sits in front of the charge, that app store is collecting the money, and you cancel there.
You can also confirm inside Canva. Click your profile icon, open Settings, and select the Billing tab. If your plan and a cancel option appear, Canva bills you directly. If the billing page tells you to manage the subscription through Apple or Google, that’s your route.
Cancel on the Canva Website
If Canva bills you directly, do this from any desktop or mobile browser:
- Click your profile icon on the Canva homepage and open Settings.
- Select the Billing tab from the side menu.
- Click Cancel plan next to your current subscription.
- Click Continue cancellation, choose a reason, then click Cancel subscription on the final screen.
Canva will interrupt the flow with a discount offer or a pause option before letting you finish.2Canva. Cancel a Canva Plan Keep clicking through until you see confirmation that the plan is canceled. If you drop off partway, the subscription stays active. Return to the Billing tab afterward to verify the status shows a cancellation date.
One thing worth knowing: Pro, Teams, and Business plans can be paused for up to three months instead of canceled. During the pause you’re not charged, and billing resumes automatically when the pause ends.3Canva. Pause a Canva Plan That option shows up inside the cancellation flow, so you’ll see it whether you want it or not.
Cancel Through Apple on iPhone or iPad
If you subscribed through the App Store, Canva’s website cannot stop the payments. You cancel in your device settings:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name at the top of the screen.
- Select Subscriptions.
- Tap Canva, then Cancel Subscription.
Apple confirms the cancellation and shows the date your Pro access expires.4Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple You keep the paid features until that date. Refund requests for a recent renewal go through reportaproblem.apple.com, not through Canva.
Cancel Through Google Play on Android
Open the Google Play app, tap your profile icon, then go to Payments & subscriptions and select Subscriptions.5Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play Find Canva in the list, tap it, and follow the prompts to cancel.
The alternate path is through your device Settings: tap Google, then your name, then Manage your Google Account, then Payments & subscriptions. Both routes end in the same place. Google confirms the cancellation and displays the last day of your current billing period.
Uninstalling the App Doesn’t Cancel Anything
This is the single most common mistake. Deleting the Canva app from your phone does not stop the charges. Your subscription is held by Apple, Google, or Canva’s billing system, not by the app itself.2Canva. Cancel a Canva Plan Cancel through the correct channel first, then remove the app. If you already deleted it and charges are still hitting your card, reinstall or go straight to your device’s subscription settings to cancel.
What Happens to Your Designs After You Cancel
Your designs stay in your account. You can open, view, and edit them on the free plan. What changes is premium content: any Pro stock photos, premium graphics, or Pro-only fonts inside a design will download with watermarks. To get a clean file you either swap in free alternatives or resubscribe.
Brand Kit settings are preserved but locked on the free plan, and they come back if you upgrade later. The free tier includes a limited Brand Kit; the full version requires a paid plan.6Canva. Canva Pricing
Storage drops from 100 GB on Pro to 5 GB on the free plan. Existing uploads over that limit aren’t deleted, but you can’t add new files until you clear space. Before you cancel, download any finished projects as PDFs or PNGs while you still have full access to premium elements.
Refunds and Access After Canceling
Canceling stops future payments. It does not automatically trigger a refund. In most cases Canva subscriptions are not refundable, though Canva says it reviews requests individually and may help depending on the situation.7Canva. Refunds for Canva Subscriptions There is no published grace period after an automatic renewal, so cancel before the renewal date rather than after.
You keep Pro features until the current billing period ends. Cancel a monthly plan on day five and you still have access for the rest of the month you paid for. The same is true of annual plans. The account reverts to the free tier only when the paid period expires.
Refunds for App Store subscriptions go through reportaproblem.apple.com. Refunds for Google Play subscriptions go through the Play Store’s support flow. Approval is not guaranteed in either case.
Canceling a Canva Teams Plan
Teams subscriptions work differently because multiple people share the account. Only team owners and admins can cancel the plan.8Canva. Manage and Delete Teams A regular member who wants out has to ask the owner to remove them, or leave the team from their own account settings.
Before you cancel or remove anyone, back up their work. When a member is removed from a team, they immediately lose access to everything they created inside it. You can hand those designs to another member during the removal process by selecting “Transfer designs and remove from team”; otherwise the files are gone from that person’s account.9Canva. If Charges Keep Coming After You Cancel
Contact Canva support first, and keep the cancellation confirmation you received. If the charges continue and support doesn’t resolve it, you can file a dispute (a chargeback) with your credit or debit card issuer.10Federal Trade Commission. How to Stop Subscriptions You Never Ordered Treat this as a last step, not the first move. The FTC’s Click-to-Cancel rule requires companies to make canceling as easy as signing up, and businesses that bury the option or ignore cancellation requests can face federal enforcement.11Federal Trade Commission.
