To access ADP after termination, go to signin.adp.com and register a personal account, which stays available to you after your workplace login is shut off. From that account you can download W-2s and pay stubs as PDFs, and the IRS accepts those electronic copies for filing.1Internal Revenue Service. 2026 General Instructions for Forms W-2 and W-3 If the portal won’t let you in, the fix runs through your former employer’s payroll department, not ADP.
Register a Personal Account at signin.adp.com
Your old workplace login was tied to the company’s internal system, so most terminated employees need to create a fresh external account. On signin.adp.com, choose the option to create an account. You’ll be offered two paths.2ADP. ADP Employee Registration Quick Reference Card
The first is a registration code. Check your separation packet or any emails from HR around your last day; ADP can automatically issue registration codes to terminated employees, and some employers pass them along.3ADP Support Documentation. ADP Registration for Employees/Associates With the code, you enter your first name, last name, date of birth, and either your Social Security number or employee ID.
The second path is “Find Me.” Without a code, you provide the same identifying details and ADP matches them against your former employer’s records to locate your profile.2ADP. ADP Employee Registration Quick Reference Card Every field has to match what your employer had on file. A legal name change or an outdated Social Security number can break the match. Which identifier the system accepts also varies by employer; some require the employee ID.3ADP Support Documentation. ADP Registration for Employees/Associates
Verify Your Identity and Set Up Credentials
Once ADP finds your profile, it sends a one-time verification code to the personal email address or mobile phone number your payroll account has on record.2ADP. ADP Employee Registration Quick Reference Card You may also be able to add a new phone number at this step. Enter the code, then create a user ID, password, and security questions. Those same credentials work for the ADP Mobile Solutions app.
Keep the login somewhere safe. You’ll need it every time you come back for another document.
Download W-2s and Pay Stubs
Inside the portal, look for menu items for pay statements and tax documents. Pay stubs are listed chronologically; W-2s are grouped by tax year. Both download as PDFs, which is what the IRS expects for electronically furnished W-2s.1Internal Revenue Service. 2026 General Instructions for Forms W-2 and W-34ADP. Pull everything you might need in one session. How long ADP retains your records depends on your former employer’s account and settings, so treat the access as time-limited and save local copies now.
Use the ADP Mobile Solutions App
The ADP Mobile Solutions app lets you view, save, and print pay stubs and W-2s from a phone or tablet.5ADP. ADP Mobile Solutions Sign in with the credentials you built for the web portal and tap the “Pay” icon to reach earnings statements and tax documents. You can move through prior years from the same screen. That’s useful when a lender or landlord asks for proof of income on short notice and you’re nowhere near a computer.
When Your Work Email Was Already Shut Off
The most common snag: ADP tries to send your verification code to a work email your employer has already deactivated. ADP won’t help employees directly with login problems for security reasons, so this one has to be solved through your former employer.6ADP. ADP Login Help
Contact the payroll or HR department and ask them to update the email address and phone number on your ADP profile to a personal one. If the company uses single sign-on, an administrator can also grant terminated employees access to pay statements and W-2s by adjusting your profile internally, without a new registration code.7ADP. Request the W-2 From Your Former Employer
Federal law requires every employer to furnish a W-2 to each employee by January 31 of the year after the wages were paid. If you were terminated mid-year and send a written request for your W-2 before January 31, your employer must provide it within 30 days of receiving your request.8Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 26 U.S. Code 6051 – Receipts for Employees
Put the request in writing. Email or a letter both work, and either creates a record of when you asked. Include your full name, Social Security number, dates of employment, and a current mailing address, and ask for the pay stubs you need in the same message.
