How Much Does Capital One Overdraft Cover? Settings and Limits

Capital One does not publish a dollar limit for how much it will cover on an overdraft. The bank reviews each transaction on its own and decides whether to approve it or decline it, so the amount Capital One overdraft will cover is discretionary rather than capped at a set number. Who Qualifies for No-Fee Overdraft Coverage

To be eligible for coverage on a 360 Checking account, you need to deposit at least $250 into the account in two out of the three previous calendar months. Deposits that count include direct deposits from an employer, cash and check deposits at a branch or ATM, mobile deposits, transfers from external banks, and digital payments like Zelle. Transfers between your own Capital One accounts do not count.1Capital One. Overdraft Options

New accounts have to wait. The earliest you can access coverage is the third calendar month after opening the account, and only if you met the deposit threshold in the first two months. If you stop meeting it later, coverage is suspended and turns back on automatically on the fifth day of the month after you satisfy the requirement again.1Capital One. Overdraft Options

  • Automatically eligible: check payments, electronic payments such as bill pay, and recurring debit card charges like subscriptions.
  • Opt-in required: ATM withdrawals and one-time debit card purchases. These are only considered if you enable the option under “Overdraft Settings.”1Capital One. Overdraft Options
