The Genisys Credit Union direct deposit form is a one-page authorization you give your employer so your paycheck is sent electronically into your Genisys checking or savings account. You can download the PDF from the Genisys website or pick one up at any branch. The routing number is 272483905, and it is already pre-printed on the form.1Genisys Credit Union. What to Have Ready Before You Start
Three pieces of information cover the form:2Genisys Credit Union. Direct Deposit Form
- Your Genisys account number. It appears on your monthly statement, in online banking, and in the mobile app. On a Genisys check, it is the second string of numbers along the bottom edge, to the right of the routing number.
- The routing number, 272483905, which is pre-printed on the form but your employer’s payroll system will need it too.
- Your employer’s name, address, and phone number for the payroll office.
Many payroll departments will also want a voided check or a bank verification letter so they can confirm the account details independently. If you don’t have Genisys checks, you can request an official verification letter on Genisys letterhead by calling 248-322-9800, the toll-free line at 800-521-8440, ext. 5, or by visiting a branch.3Genisys Credit Union. Filling Out Each Field
Every field on the form, in order:2Genisys Credit Union. Direct Deposit Form
- Name. Your full legal name as it appears on your Genisys account.
- Address. Your current mailing address.
- Last four digits of your Social Security number. Only the last four. The form does not ask for the full number.
- Phone number. A number Genisys can reach you at if there’s a problem with the deposit.
- Account number. Check every digit against your statement or online banking. One wrong digit and the deposit fails.
- Checking or savings. Check the box for the account type that should receive the money.
- Place of employment. Your employer’s company name.
- Employer’s address and phone number. The office or payroll department that processes your pay.
- Member signature and date. An unsigned form gets rejected.
You do not need to write the routing number in; it is already printed on the form.1Genisys Credit Union. Direct Deposit
The Form Only Has One Account Box
The form lets you choose one destination: checking or savings. It is not designed to split a paycheck at the employer’s end. A note on the form tells your employer to send the whole paycheck as a single entry, and Genisys then distributes the funds according to instructions you set up with the credit union.2Genisys Credit Union. Direct Deposit Form
To arrange those internal distributions, such as sending a fixed amount to savings and the remainder to checking, you set the allocation through Genisys Online Banking or the mobile app.1Genisys Credit Union. Direct Deposit Genisys specifically warns against handing your employer sub-account numbers for separate deposits, because the way Genisys structures accounts makes errors likely when an employer tries to send multiple entries. One deposit to your main account, and let Genisys handle the split.
Handing It to Payroll
Give the completed form to your employer’s payroll or human resources department. Some employers keep the paper form on file. Others want it scanned and uploaded through an employee self-service portal. Some larger companies skip outside forms entirely and have you type the routing and account numbers directly into their payroll system; in that case your Genisys form still works as your reference sheet.
Your employer cannot force you to bank at a specific institution. Under Fair Labor Standards Act guidance, an employer can require direct deposit only if at least one alternative payment method, such as a paper check, is available, and you always get to choose where the money is sent.1Genisys Credit Union. What Happens After You Submit
Your next paycheck usually won’t be the first electronic one. Most payroll providers run a prenotification, a zero-dollar test through the ACH network, to confirm the routing and account numbers reach a real account. Under current NACHA rules the employer must wait at least three business days after the prenote settles before sending a live deposit. If the prenote is rejected, payroll will come back to you to recheck the numbers.
Plan on one to two full pay cycles for the switch to finish. Keep your prior payment method active during that window. When the first live deposit arrives, open online banking or the mobile app and confirm the amount matches your pay stub. If it doesn’t, call payroll the same day. You can also turn on deposit alerts in Genisys online banking or the app so you get a notification the moment a paycheck posts, which is useful during the transition and afterward.
Government Benefits Use a Different Process
The Genisys form is for employer paychecks. If your income is Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, VA compensation, civil service retirement, or military pay, don’t use the Genisys form; you enroll through the paying agency instead, using the same Genisys routing number (272483905) and your account number.4Social Security Administration. Social Security Direct Deposit For Social Security and SSI, sign up through your my Social Security account at ssa.gov, use the Treasury’s Go Direct service at 1-877-874-6347, or call SSA at 1-800-772-1213 or Treasury’s Electronic Payment Solution Center at 1-800-333-1795. A Genisys branch can also help you enroll in person. For other federal payments, ask the agency about Standard Form 1199A; Section 1 is yours and Section 2 is completed and stamped by Genisys at a branch.5United States Patent and Trademark Office. Changing or Canceling Your Direct Deposit
If you change jobs, open an account elsewhere, or want to return to paper checks, you have to update both sides. Start with payroll: submit a new direct deposit form with the updated numbers, or a written request to stop electronic payments. If you’re only moving from one Genisys account to another, the routing number stays the same and you only update the account number.
Keep the old account open until at least one full pay cycle has cleared into the new destination. Payroll systems don’t update instantly, and closing an account before the switch finishes can leave a paycheck with nowhere to land, which usually means payroll cuts a paper check days later while they untangle the bounce. For federal benefits, update your banking details through the same channel you used to enroll: your my Social Security account, Go Direct, or Treasury at 1-800-333-1795.
To block a single recurring ACH debit rather than cancel the whole direct deposit setup, call Genisys at 248-322-9800 to place a stop payment order.3Genisys Credit Union. Contact Us
