A charge labeled “GAMMA.APP” on your credit card or bank statement comes from Gamma, an AI presentation and document platform run by Gamma Tech, Inc., and processed through Stripe. It’s almost always a paid subscription that either auto-renewed or was purchased on an account you may have forgotten about. You can stop future charges by canceling inside the workspace that holds the subscription, and you may be able to recover the money either through Gamma’s short refund window or by disputing the charge with your card issuer.
Why the Charge Shows Up
Gamma sells several paid tiers, from Plus at about £7 per seat per month up to Ultra at about £66.75 per seat per month, with annual billing discounted by up to 30 percent.1Gamma. Pricing Under Gamma’s terms, every paid plan renews automatically and keeps renewing until you cancel. At each renewal, Stripe bills the card on file at the then-current price for the same plan length.2Gamma. Terms of Use

The company’s help center notes that users sometimes have an active paid subscription on one workspace while assuming they’re on the free plan, because they’re logged into a different workspace.4Gamma Help Center. How to Cancel and Stop Future Charges
Log in to the workspace that actually holds the paid subscription, not the one you use most often. Open billing settings and choose to cancel. If the “Cancel subscription” button is greyed out, you’re not the billing admin for that workspace, and only the admin who originally bought the plan can cancel it.4Gamma Help Center. Timing matters. Gamma’s terms require cancellation at least 30 days before the next renewal date, and if you’ve received an auto-renewal notification, the company says you have 30 days from that notification to cancel.2Gamma. Getting a Refund From Gamma
Canceling on its own does not produce a refund. Under Gamma’s refund policy, effective December 1, 2025, a refund is available only if you request it within three days of subscribing and only if your account hasn’t crossed a credit-usage threshold that varies by tier. On the Plus plan, for example, you must have used fewer than 200 credits; on Pro, fewer than 600.5Gamma Help Center. What Is Gamma’s Refund Policy and How Do I Request a Refund
After three days, Gamma’s stated position is that it will not issue a refund except where required by local consumer protection law. To ask for one within the window, contact Gamma customer support directly; the support team is described as available around the clock.5Gamma Help Center. Disputing the Charge With Your Card Issuer
If Gamma refuses a refund, or you missed the three-day window on a renewal you didn’t expect, the next step is your card. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau advises trying to resolve the problem with the seller first, then contacting your card issuer to open a dispute if that doesn’t work.6Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Federal law gives credit card users two main paths:
- A billing error dispute covers unauthorized charges, incorrect amounts, or services you didn’t receive. You send a written dispute to the card issuer within 60 days of the statement date. The issuer has 30 days to acknowledge it and 90 days to investigate.7California Office of the Attorney General. Credit Cards: Dispute a Charge
- A claims-and-defenses dispute covers services that weren’t as represented or were defective, provided you first made a good-faith effort to resolve the issue with the merchant. The purchase must exceed $50, and you can submit the written claim up to one year after the first statement showing the charge.7California Office of the Attorney General. Auto-Renewal Laws That May Help
Gamma’s refund policy carves out exceptions where local consumer protection law requires more, and several laws do. The federal Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act (ROSCA) requires clear disclosure of material terms before a company collects billing information, express informed consent, and a simple way to stop recurring charges. Violations can carry civil penalties of up to $53,088 each.8FTC. Federal Trade Commission Announces Final Click-to-Cancel Rule The FTC’s separate “Click-to-Cancel” rule was vacated by the Eighth Circuit in July 2025 on procedural grounds, so ROSCA is the main federal tool.9Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Custom Communications Inc. v. Federal Trade Commission, 142 F.4th 1060
State law can go further. California’s amended Automatic Renewal Law, effective July 2025, requires businesses to let you cancel through the same medium you signed up in, meaning online subscriptions must be cancelable online, and to show a prominent “click to cancel” button without obstruction or delay. Penalties can reach $2,500 per occurrence, and services provided in violation may be treated as unconditional gifts requiring full refunds.10CalMatters Digital Democracy. AB 2863
New York’s revised auto-renewal law, effective November 2025, adds a price-change rule. If a subscription’s price goes up, the company must either get your affirmative consent to the new price or let you cancel within 14 days and receive a pro-rata refund.11New York State Senate. GBS Section 527-A, Unlawful Practices Gamma’s terms state that price changes take effect “immediately,” which may be in tension with that requirement for New York subscribers.2Gamma. Terms of Use If you’re in a state with these protections and Gamma won’t refund a charge you believe violates them, cite the specific law when you contact support, and mention it again if you escalate to a card dispute or a state attorney general complaint.
