DRI*Wizards Charge: What It Is, How to Cancel, and Refunds

A DRI*Wizards charge on your bank or credit card statement is a payment processed by Digital River, Inc. on behalf of Wizards of the Coast, the company that runs Dungeons & Dragons and D&D Beyond. In most cases it’s a D&D Beyond subscription billing on its normal cycle, a free trial that converted to a paid plan, or a one-time purchase from a Wizards of the Coast website. To stop future charges, cancel the underlying subscription through your D&D Beyond account.

Why the Charge Reads as DRI Instead of Wizards

The “DRI” prefix stands for Digital River, the third-party payment processor Wizards of the Coast uses to authenticate and collect payments for products, virtual items, virtual currency, and services sold through its sites.1Wizards of the Coast. Legal Terms Because Wizards doesn’t run the transaction itself, the descriptor on your statement carries the processor’s name rather than “Wizards of the Coast” or “D&D Beyond.”

The most common source of a recurring DRI*Wizards line is a D&D Beyond subscription. All D&D Beyond subscriptions auto-renew, and payment is collected in advance of each billing cycle.2D&D Beyond. Match the Amount to a Subscription Tier

The dollar amount usually tells you which plan is billing. As of 2026, D&D Beyond’s Hero tier is $2.99 per month or $25.99 per year (roughly $2.17 per month), and the Master tier is $5.99 per month or $54.99 per year (roughly $4.58 per month). Six-month plans run $14.99 for Hero and $29.99 for Master. Taxes are added to all prices.4D&D Beyond Support. Subscriptions Pricing

If your charge doesn’t line up with any of those figures, it may be a one-time marketplace purchase (a rulebook, a digital item) or a subscription total that includes sales tax. Sign in to your D&D Beyond account and check the order history to confirm.

How to Cancel and Stop Future Charges

Canceling a D&D Beyond subscription turns off auto-renewal. No further charges post, and you keep access to subscription benefits through the end of the current paid cycle.5D&D Beyond Support. Cancel Your Subscription

  • On a desktop browser, log in to D&D Beyond, go to dndbeyond.com/store/subscriptions/manage, and choose “Cancel Subscription.”6D&D Beyond Support. Modifying Your Subscription
  • If you started the subscription through a mobile app store, you may need to cancel it in that platform’s subscription settings (Google Play, for example) rather than on the D&D Beyond site.7D&D Beyond. How Do I Cancel My DnD Beyond Subscription

If the Charge Is Unauthorized or Won’t Stop

Start with Wizards of the Coast directly. The general support portal is at support.wizards.com, and a dedicated D&D Beyond billing page is at dndbeyond-support.wizards.com.9Hasbro. How Do I Contact Wizards of the Coast If support can’t resolve the charge, you can dispute it with your bank or card issuer. Your rights depend on which card you used.

Credit Card Charges

Under the Fair Credit Billing Act, you can dispute billing errors and unauthorized charges on a credit card:

  • Your written dispute must reach the issuer within 60 days of the statement date the charge first appeared on.10Federal Trade Commission. Using Credit Cards and Disputing Charges
  • Federal law caps your liability for unauthorized credit card charges at $50, and many issuers offer zero-liability policies that go further.11Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. How Do I Dispute a Charge on My Credit Card Bill

  • While the investigation is open, you can withhold payment on the disputed amount without being reported as delinquent on that specific charge.

Send the dispute in writing to the issuer’s billing inquiries address, ideally by certified mail with return receipt, rather than relying only on a phone call.

  • Reported after two business days but within 60 days of the statement: liability can rise to $500.
  • Reported more than 60 days after the statement: potentially unlimited liability for transfers that occurred after the 60-day window.

A Note on the Digital River Name

The processor whose name appears in the descriptor is winding down. Digital River announced in January 2025 that it was ceasing operations, laid off its remaining 122 employees, and closed its Minnetonka, Minnesota headquarters by the end of March 2025.14Twin Cities Business. For a subscriber, this changes little in practice. Wizards of the Coast, not Digital River, owns the subscription relationship and runs the support channels that handle cancellations and billing questions. Whether Wizards has moved to a different payment processor is not confirmed in publicly available documentation, so the DRI*Wizards descriptor may eventually be replaced by a different name on your statement.
