Does Venture X Cover CLEAR+? Reimbursing Cards and Discounts

The Capital One Venture X does not cover CLEAR+. The card’s airport-security benefit is a statement credit of up to $120 for a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee, available once every four years, and Capital One excludes CLEAR+ from that reimbursement.1Capital One. TSA PreCheck and Global Entry Benefits At $209 a year, a CLEAR+ membership paid with a Venture X comes entirely out of pocket.

What the Venture X Security Credit Actually Covers

Charge a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee to a Venture X and Capital One will automatically credit the account up to $120. The credit applies to whichever program the cardholder pays for first, and the account becomes eligible again four years after the credit posts. Capital One’s help center states the limit plainly: “Only TSA PreCheck and Global Entry application fees are eligible for reimbursement at this time.”1Capital One. The reimbursement posts within two billing cycles and goes to the primary cardholder. If several users share the account, only the first qualifying charge triggers it.1Capital One. TSA PreCheck and Global Entry Benefits The standard Capital One Venture card carries the same $120 benefit on the same four-year cycle.2Capital One. Capital One Venture vs Venture X

The Venture X’s other travel credit, the $300 annual benefit, won’t help either. It applies only to flights, hotels, and rental cars booked through the Capital One Travel portal, not to services bought directly from outside merchants.3NerdWallet. Venture X Travel Credit

The CLEAR+ and TSA PreCheck Bundle

CLEAR sells a bundle pairing a one-year CLEAR+ membership with a five-year TSA PreCheck enrollment. Capital One has confirmed that Venture and Venture X cardholders can collect the up-to-$120 credit for the TSA PreCheck portion of that bundle.4Capital One. TSA PreCheck vs CLEAR The CLEAR+ portion isn’t reimbursed, so the bundle shaves $120 off the combined cost and no more.

Cards That Do Reimburse CLEAR+

If covering the full CLEAR+ fee with a card benefit is the goal, every option currently comes from American Express. Each of these cards offers an annual statement credit of up to $209 for CLEAR+:

To trigger the credit, the CLEAR+ membership has to be set to auto-renew and paid with the eligible Amex. Credits usually post within a few days, though they can take up to eight weeks.5American Express. CLEAR Benefits

The Chase Sapphire Reserve, often cross-shopped against the Venture X, does not reimburse CLEAR+ either. Its screening credit is limited to Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, and NEXUS.6Chase. CLEAR Membership
