Does Shop Pay Charge Interest on Installments? Rates and Rules

Monthly plans work differently. They can stretch up to twelve months depending on the store and the order size, and they may carry interest. What the Monthly Interest Rate Looks Like

Affirm sets rates on monthly plans between 0% and 36% APR based on your creditworthiness and the transaction.1Affirm. About Shop Pay Installments Affirm’s own example: an $800 purchase could split into twelve monthly payments of $72.21 at 15% APR, or four biweekly payments of $200 at 0%.

It’s worth checking the number Affirm shows you against whatever card you’d otherwise use before accepting the plan.

Paying Early to Reduce What You Owe

Missed Payments and Interest on Returns

Affirm does not charge late fees.5Affirm Help Center. Refunds work in a similar direction. If you return an item bought on a monthly plan, the merchant processes the refund, but any interest you have already paid is not returned. Affirm treats interest as the cost of borrowing, and that cost is considered incurred whether or not you keep the product.3Shopify Help Center.
