Sezzle does not charge interest on its standard Pay in 4 or Pay in 2 plans. Those short-term installment plans run at 0% APR as long as you pay on schedule. Interest only comes into play if you take out a longer-term installment loan through one of Sezzle’s lending partners, where APRs can range roughly from 0% to about 34.99% depending on your credit. Separately, Sezzle can charge flat fees for late and rescheduled payments, and its optional subscriptions carry monthly costs.
The Short-Term Plans Are 0% APR
Pay in 4 splits a purchase into four equal installments. You pay 25% at checkout, and the remaining three payments come out automatically every two weeks over six weeks. Pay on time and the total you pay matches the purchase price.
Pay in 2 works the same way with two payments: half at checkout, half two weeks later, also at 0% interest.1Sezzle. Where Can I Use Sezzle Payments Neither plan adds interest regardless of the amount you spend.
When Interest Does Apply
For larger purchases, Sezzle offers long-term installment loans through third-party lenders such as Bread Financial, with terms between 3 and 48 months.2Bread Financial Newsroom. Alliance Datas Bread Sezzle Announce Strategic Partnership These loans carry interest. APRs typically start around 5.99% and can reach roughly 34.99%, with the rate depending on your credit profile and the lender’s terms. Some merchant-partner promotions may advertise 0% APR for qualifying buyers.
Checking your eligibility for long-term financing is a soft pull, so it will not affect your credit score.3Sezzle Merchant Support. What Is the Shoppers Experience With Long-Term Financing Purchases If you accept a loan, monthly statements will show how each payment splits between principal and interest. The exact rate, total interest, and repayment schedule appear in the loan agreement at checkout, so review that document before you accept.
Fees That Aren’t Interest
Even on the 0% plans, a few flat fees can raise what you actually pay.
If you can’t make a payment on time, Sezzle lets you push the due date back by up to two weeks. Rescheduling isn’t always free. The fee depends on your state’s rules and can be up to $7.50 per reschedule.4Sezzle Legal. Opening Account Disclosure Subscribers to Sezzle Premium or Sezzle Anywhere get one free reschedule per order; anything after that pays the standard fee.5Sezzle. Why Was I Charged a Fee for Rescheduling My Payment
If a scheduled payment fails and stays unpaid past the grace period, Sezzle can charge a late fee of up to $16.95.4Sezzle Legal. Opening Account Disclosure These are flat charges, not interest, so they don’t compound. Your bank may also add its own overdraft or insufficient-funds fee if a Sezzle attempt drains your account. Those bank charges commonly run around $30 or more and are separate from anything Sezzle collects.6Sezzle. Why Was I Charged a Fee
Sezzle’s optional subscriptions are another recurring cost, though not interest. Sezzle Premium runs $13.99 per month and is currently invite-only. Sezzle Anywhere, which gives you a single-use virtual Visa card to use outside partnered stores, has recently been priced between roughly $20 and $30 per month.7Sezzle. What Happens if You Don’t Pay
Missing payments triggers escalating consequences. First, any past-due balance locks your account: you can still log in, but you can’t make new purchases until you catch up.8Sezzle Legal. User Agreement
If a balance stays unpaid for 90 days or longer, Sezzle charges the account off. That permanently blocks the account, and the unpaid debt may be sent to a third-party collection agency.9Sezzle. What Is a Charge-Off and Why Do I Still See a Balance With My Sezzle Account After My Account Was Charged Off A charge-off doesn’t wipe out what you owe; you remain responsible for the full balance, and the record can stay on your credit report for up to seven years.
One boundary worth knowing: by default, standard Sezzle payments aren’t reported to credit bureaus, so on-time Pay in 4 or Pay in 2 payments don’t build your credit, and missed ones don’t directly hurt it unless the account goes to collections. That default changes only if you opt into Sezzle Up, which reports payment history to Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion.10Ally Financial.
