Yes, EBT does cover coffee, as long as it’s the kind you take home and brew yourself. Ground coffee, whole beans, instant, K-Cups and other pods, and bottled or canned cold coffee are all SNAP-eligible groceries. Hot coffee poured at a counter is the main thing your card won’t buy, with one narrow exception explained below.

Anything with a Supplement Facts Label
Some coffee-flavored energy drinks, protein shakes, and shots carry a “Supplement Facts” label instead of a “Nutrition Facts” label. Your card works at any USDA-authorized SNAP retailer. Grocery stores, supermarkets, and convenience stores are the common options, and most post signage at the entrance or register.
Online Orders
SNAP now works for online grocery purchases in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Amazon, Walmart, and Target are among the larger retailers accepting EBT online, and you can order ground coffee, pods, and bottled cold brew the same way you’d order any other grocery. Coffee Counters Inside Grocery Stores

The Restaurant Meals Program Exception
The Restaurant Meals Program is the one federal carve-out for hot coffee.
