Does Delta Amex Cover Global Entry? Cards, PreCheck, and Renewals

Yes. If you carry the Delta SkyMiles Platinum or Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express card, in either the personal or business version, the card covers the full $120 Global Entry application fee through an automatic statement credit. Pay the fee with the card and Amex reimburses you, usually within eight weeks. The lower-tier Delta SkyMiles Gold and Blue cards do not include this benefit.1American Express. Expedite Your Travel

Which Delta Cards Qualify

Four Delta-branded American Express cards include the Global Entry credit:

If your Delta card is the Gold or Blue tier, the credit is not available and paying the Global Entry fee with it will not trigger reimbursement.1American Express. Expedite Your Travel

How to Get the Credit

There is nothing to enroll in and no form to submit. Apply for Global Entry through U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Trusted Traveler Program system, and when you pay the $120 fee, use your eligible Delta Amex. The $120 statement credit posts automatically, generally within eight weeks of the charge appearing on your account.1American Express. Expedite Your Travel

A few things to know before you pay:

  • The fee has to be charged directly to the eligible card. Paying through an electronic wallet, a third-party payment processor, or certain mobile card readers can prevent Amex from recognizing the charge, in which case the credit may not apply.1American Express. Expedite Your Travel
  • You get the credit whether or not CBP approves your application.6American Express. Global Entry Benefit – Delta SkyMiles Platinum
  • The credit is limited to one per card account every four years. That is one credit per account, not one per person: if an authorized user on your account uses it, no one else on the account can claim it again until the four-year window resets. Two separate accounts, held by two different people, each get their own credit.1American Express. Expedite Your Travel

Global Entry or TSA PreCheck

The same credit will pay for TSA PreCheck (up to $85) instead of Global Entry, but only the first qualifying fee charged in the four-year window is reimbursed. You cannot use it for both.1American Express. Expedite Your Travel For most travelers, Global Entry is the stronger choice because membership already includes TSA PreCheck at no extra cost, so a single $120 fee (fully covered by the card) gets you both expedited domestic security and expedited customs on the way back from international trips.7American Express. Renewals

Global Entry memberships last five years, and the renewal fee is the same $120 as a new application. Because the Amex credit resets every four years and CBP lets you renew up to a year before your current membership expires, the timing lines up so the credit can cover each renewal as long as you keep the card.8American Express. What the Credit Won’t Cover

The benefit is limited to Global Entry and TSA PreCheck application fees. It does not reimburse other Trusted Traveler Programs such as NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST, or Privium.1American Express. Expedite Your Travel It also does not cover CLEAR Plus. CLEAR Plus credits exist on some other Amex products, including the personal Platinum and Business Platinum, but none of the Delta cards include that benefit.9American Express. CLEAR+ Benefit
