Blue365 does not cover gym memberships the way health insurance covers a doctor visit. It is a free discount program for Blue Cross Blue Shield members that gets you reduced rates on gym memberships through outside vendors, with plans starting around $19 a month. You still pay the gym bill yourself; Blue365 just lowers the price.
Blue365 Is a Discount Program, Not a Benefit
Blue365 is a health and wellness discount platform available to members of participating Blue Cross Blue Shield companies and all members of the Federal Employee Program Service Benefit Plan. It is not insurance, not a covered benefit under any BCBS policy, and not part of any Medicare contract or federal healthcare program. BCBS of Illinois describes it in capital letters as “NOT insurance.”
What that means in practice: nothing you spend through Blue365 counts toward your deductible or out-of-pocket maximum. If something goes wrong with a vendor, you deal with that vendor, not your insurance company’s appeals process. In return, the program is genuinely free. No waiting periods, no claim forms, no limits on how often you use it, and no effect on your plan eligibility if you do or don’t.
What the Discounted Gym Memberships Cost
Blue365 routes members to one of three gym programs, each run by a different company. Which ones you see depends on your BCBS company.
Fitness Your Way
Run by Tivity Health, this is the cheapest option and covers more than 13,000 gyms nationwide. Pricing is tiered: $19, $29, $39, or $99 per month, with a $19 enrollment fee. Each tier includes every tier beneath it, so a higher tier buys access to more gyms, including luxury athletic clubs with saunas, sports courts, and 24-hour access at the top end. On-demand classes are included. No long-term contracts or annual fees, though some Fitness Your Way plans through specific BCBS companies require a three-month initial commitment before you can cancel.
Active&Fit Direct
Run by American Specialty Health, this one is a flat $28 per month plus a $28 enrollment fee for access to more than 12,700 standard gyms. You can add premium studio access at 20 to 70 percent off retail, but those cost more than the base rate and require separate enrollment. The program includes over 17,000 on-demand workout videos. As of mid-2026, the enrollment fee is waived for newly eligible members through the end of August.
Aaptiv
Aaptiv has the largest physical network, more than 20,000 gyms and studios, paired with a library of 10,000-plus audio and video workouts. There are five tiers, from a digital-only plan at $4.99 per month up to the Elite plan at $233.99 per month, which includes the full gym network. All gym plans carry a $25 enrollment fee. Studio partners include Orangetheory Fitness, YMCA, F45, Pure Barre, Club Pilates, and CycleBar. Some tiers cap boutique studio visits per month, and unused visits don’t roll over.
Which Gyms Actually Participate
Across the three programs, Blue365 lists more than 20,000 gym and studio locations. The national chains include 24 Hour Fitness, Crunch Fitness, Anytime Fitness, Gold’s Gym, Planet Fitness, EoS Fitness, Snap Fitness, Curves, Life Time, and select YMCA locations. Studio brands include Orangetheory Fitness, Club Pilates, Yoga Six, StretchLab, Pure Barre, SolidCore, CycleBar, F45, and FIT4MOM.
The list isn’t fixed. Members on user forums have noted that the network “fluctuates greatly,” with some local gyms dropping out after people had already signed up. In some areas Planet Fitness may be your only option; in others you’ll have dozens. Check the specific locations near you before you commit.
How to Sign Up
Enrollment happens in two stages. First you create a Blue365 account, then you enroll in a specific gym program through its vendor.
- Go to Blue365Deals.com and click “Join.” You’ll enter the three-character prefix from your BCBS member ID card, an email address, a password, and some basic profile information, then accept the terms of use.
- Once you’re in, open the Fitness category or search for “gym memberships,” pick the program you want, click “Verify Eligibility,” and enter your member information. Your first and last name must match your BCBS member ID card exactly. After verification you’ll be sent to the gym partner’s site to finish enrollment and pay.
If verification stalls, Blue365 support is at support@blue365deals.com.
Canceling
Each program handles its own cancellations. For Active&Fit Direct, log in at activeandfitdirect.com or call 844-646-2746; canceling a primary membership also cancels any linked spouse or domestic partner membership. For Fitness Your Way, call Tivity Health at 1-888-242-2060 during business hours. For Aaptiv, email support@aaptiv.com with “Cancellation request” in the subject line, or call 877-290-2815. Cancellations take effect on the next billing cycle, and at least one program says explicitly that it doesn’t refund partial subscription periods.
Adding a Spouse or Dependents
Spouses, domestic partners, and dependent children aged 18 to 26 can generally be added, as long as they’re covered under your BCBS plan. Each family member needs their own Blue365 account with a unique email address. Pricing varies by program and by BCBS company. Under Active&Fit Direct, additional standard memberships are $23 per month each, and additional premium memberships get a $5 monthly discount. Fitness Your Way confirms family eligibility but asks you to log in to see specific prices.
If You’re on Medicare
If you’re 65 or older on a Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement plan, your gym benefit most likely comes through SilverSneakers or Silver&Fit, not Blue365. Blue365’s own FAQ confirms those are independent programs for members 65 and older and sit outside the Blue365 platform. SilverSneakers provides access to more than 22,000 fitness centers at no additional cost to eligible members, with in-person and virtual classes designed for older adults, and is administered by Tivity Health for participating BCBS plans.
HSA and FSA Funds
Generally, you can’t pay for a Blue365 gym membership with HSA or FSA money. The IRS treats gym memberships as a general health expense rather than a qualified medical expense. The exception is a Letter of Medical Necessity from a healthcare professional documenting gym-based exercise as part of a treatment plan for a diagnosed condition such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease. Even with the letter you still need plan administrator approval and itemized documentation. Blue365 itself tells members to check with a tax accountant or benefits administrator first.
Your BCBS Plan May Reimburse a Gym Separately
Blue365 is a discount; some BCBS plans separately offer actual gym reimbursement as a built-in insurance benefit, and the two can sometimes be stacked. BCBS of Massachusetts, for example, reimburses up to $300 per year for health club memberships, online fitness subscriptions, classes, and home equipment. Independence Blue Cross reimburses up to $150 per calendar year if a member completes 120 qualifying workouts. Highmark BCBS reimburses up to $200 per benefit year with at least 50 gym visits per six-month period. Each program has its own eligible expenses, documentation rules, and deadlines.
Whether your plan includes anything like this depends on your employer group and plan type. Your benefit booklet or a call to your BCBS company will tell you.
