Do I Need to Update TSA PreCheck If I Move? Address, Name, REAL ID

If you’ve moved, update your TSA PreCheck address by contacting the enrollment provider that handles your account—Idemia, Telos, or CLEAR. There is no fixed deadline in the program’s rules, but TSA instructs members to notify their provider whenever personal information changes.1Transportation Security Administration. My Personal Information Has Changed How Do I Update My Information The change is administrative: no new background check, no in-person visit, no fee.

Why the Address on File Matters

Your home address never prints on a boarding pass, so it looks like a detail that shouldn’t affect travel. TSA uses it for two things anyway. The first is mailing renewal reminders before your five-year membership expires. The second is the continuous vetting TSA runs against government records; when your profile drifts out of sync with other databases, your account can get flagged for manual review.

Neither problem is dramatic on its own. Together they’re the reason a two-minute update is worth doing the week you move rather than the week before your next flight.

How to Update Your Address by Provider

TSA authorizes three PreCheck enrollment providers: Idemia (IdentoGO), Telos, and CLEAR.2Transportation Security Administration. Idemia (IdentoGO)

Telos

Telos members update their profile at tsaprecheckbytelos.tsa.dhs.gov. Support is also reachable at 1-833-777-1811 (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET) or by email at support@telosid.com.5TSA PreCheck Enrollment by Telos. TSA PreCheck Application

CLEAR

CLEAR members log into their CLEAR account to change the address, or contact CLEAR customer support. If you also subscribe to CLEAR Plus, both live under the same account.

If You Have Global Entry, NEXUS, or SENTRI

Members who get PreCheck as a benefit of Global Entry, NEXUS, or SENTRI don’t use the enrollment providers at all. Those programs are run by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and address changes go through the Trusted Traveler Programs site at ttp.dhs.gov.6Trusted Traveler Programs. What to Have Ready

  • Full legal name (first, middle, last) as it appears in your enrollment record
  • Date of birth
  • New residential address
  • Your Known Traveler Number (KTN), the nine-digit number on your PASS ID card or in your original approval notice

Lost your KTN? Both Idemia and Telos have a lookup tool on their websites that returns it when you enter your name, date of birth, and country of birth.8TSA PreCheck Enrollment by Telos. TSA PreCheck KTN Look Up A plain address change does not require you to upload a utility bill or any other proof of residency. You just enter the new address.

If Your Name Changed Too

Moves tied to marriage or divorce often come with a legal name change, and that piece is not administrative. If the name in your PreCheck profile doesn’t match the ID and boarding pass you travel under, you lose your PreCheck benefits until the record is corrected.1Transportation Security Administration. For Idemia, submit by email or fax:

  • An updated government-issued photo ID showing your new legal name
  • A name-linking document such as a marriage certificate with a government seal, a court-ordered name change, or the first page, name-change page, and signature page of a divorce decree4TSA Enrollment Help Center | TSA Enrollment by IDEMIA. Help Center

Social Security cards and hospital-issued birth certificates are not accepted for the name-change piece.4TSA Enrollment Help Center | TSA Enrollment by IDEMIA. If Your Move Crossed State Lines: REAL ID

Since May 7, 2025, TSA has required a REAL ID-compliant license, or an acceptable alternative, at airport security checkpoints. PreCheck does not exempt you from this.9Department of Homeland Security. TSA Begins REAL ID Full Enforcement If your new state issues you a replacement license, make sure it carries the REAL ID star. A U.S. passport, passport card, military ID, or a DHS trusted traveler card like the Global Entry card also works while you wait.10Defense Travel Management Office. REAL ID Required for US Travelers Beginning May 7 2025

One useful distinction: the address printed on your physical ID does not have to match the address in your PreCheck profile to clear the checkpoint. The name does.

Line It Up With Your Renewal

PreCheck memberships last five years, and you can renew online up to six months before expiration; early renewal doesn’t shorten the new term, since it starts when the old one ends.11Transportation Security Administration. TSA PreCheck Renewals If your address is out of date, the reminder can land at a house you no longer own, and you may not notice the lapse until standard screening lines slow you down on a business trip. Updating the address the week you move is the cheapest insurance against that. If a name change is also in the mix, fold it into the same submission and give it the full 45 days to process before you fly.
