CKO*Dashlane Charge: What It Means, How to Cancel, and Refund

A charge labeled “CKO*Dashlane” on your bank or credit card statement is a subscription payment for Dashlane, the password manager, processed through the payment company Checkout.com. The “CKO” prefix is Checkout.com’s merchant tag, and “Dashlane” is the service being billed. If you weren’t expecting it, the charge is almost always an auto-renewing annual subscription, a free trial that converted to a paid plan, or a small verification hold placed just before renewal.

What the Descriptor Actually Means

Dashlane doesn’t run its own card processing. According to Dashlane’s subprocessor list, Checkout Ltd. (Checkout.com) handles user billing and payment information on Dashlane’s behalf.1Dashlane. Subprocessors When Checkout.com puts a charge through, your statement shows the processor’s prefix alongside the merchant name. So “CKO*Dashlane” is just Dashlane, billed through its payment vendor.

The Amount You’re Seeing

Dashlane’s personal plans are billed annually. The Premium plan (one user) runs about $59.88 per year, and the Friends & Family plan (up to ten people) runs about $89.88 per year.2PCMag UK. Dashlane3Security.org. Dashlane Monthly billing is no longer offered on personal plans, so a full CKO*Dashlane charge will usually match one of those figures or a promotional rate for new subscribers.

There’s one smaller amount worth knowing about. A $0.50 (or €0.50) charge appearing shortly before a renewal date is a temporary pre-authorization hold Dashlane uses to confirm your card is still valid. It’s reversed right away and won’t appear on the final statement, though it can stay visible for a few days.4Dashlane Support. Why Did I Get a Small Charge From Dashlane

Why It Showed Up When You Didn’t Expect It

A few situations account for most surprise charges:

  • Auto-renewal. Dashlane subscriptions renew automatically at the current rate unless you cancel. The terms of service commit to at least 30 days’ advance email notice before renewal, but if that email was filtered or missed, the charge can feel like it came out of nowhere.5Dashlane. • Free trial conversion. Some Dashlane trials require a payment method up front. If you don’t cancel before the trial ends, it converts to a paid plan automatically.6Dashlane Support. Do I Need to Cancel My Dashlane Premium Trial to Avoid Charges
  • Double billing. Changing tiers, switching between the Apple App Store and the Dashlane website, or buying a new plan before the old billing period expires can produce two charges for overlapping periods.7Dashlane Support. I Was Charged Twice for Dashlane
  • A shared card. A family member or partner may have signed up using a card you own, so the charge looks unfamiliar to you but not to them.

How to Cancel

Canceling stops future auto-renewals. Where you cancel depends on where you originally subscribed:

  • Bought on the Dashlane website with a credit card: open the Dashlane web app, go to the Vault menu, choose “Subscription,” and select “Cancel your subscription.” A “Request refund” link appears in the right panel after you finish. Dashlane advises staying on that page until you’ve submitted the refund request.8Dashlane Support. Cancel My Dashlane Subscription and Stop Autorenewal
  • Bought through Google Play: cancel in Google Play’s subscription settings.
  • Bought through the Apple App Store: cancel in Apple’s subscription settings.
  • Paying through PayPal: cancel through PayPal’s automatic payments settings.

If you subscribed through Google, Apple, or PayPal, any refund has to go through that platform, not Dashlane.8Dashlane Support. Cancel My Dashlane Subscription and Stop Autorenewal

If Dashlane Won’t Resolve It, Dispute With Your Card Issuer

If the refund window has passed, Dashlane declines the request, or you believe the charge is genuinely unauthorized, you can dispute it through your credit card issuer. Under the Fair Credit Billing Act, you have to submit the dispute in writing to the issuer’s billing inquiries address within 60 days of the statement date showing the charge.
