Cash App Instant Deposit: Fee, Requirements, and Limits

The Cash App instant deposit fee runs between 0.5% and 2.5% of the amount you’re moving to a linked debit card, with a minimum charge of $0.25 to $1 and a maximum capped at $75.1Cash App. Withdrawal Transfer Speed Options The app shows you the exact fee before you confirm, and the money typically lands in seconds. If you can wait one to three business days, the standard transfer is free.

How the Fee Is Calculated

Cash App deducts the fee from the transfer itself, so the amount hitting your bank is slightly less than the amount you entered. The percentage lands somewhere in the 0.5% to 2.5% range depending on the transfer. On a $200 cash out at the high end, you’d pay $5 and receive $195. On a $5,000 cash out, the fee caps at $75 regardless of what the percentage would otherwise produce, which keeps large transfers from scaling without limit.1Cash App. Withdrawal Transfer Speed Options

The minimum charge of $0.25 to $1 matters on small transfers. If 2% of your cash out would come to pennies, the minimum applies instead. Moving a few dollars instantly can cost a noticeable fraction of the transfer, which is a good reason to batch small amounts or use the free standard option when you don’t need the speed.

What You Need to Have Linked

Instant deposits go to a debit card, not to a bank account number. Cash App supports debit cards on the Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover networks, and the issuing bank has to support real-time push payments through its network’s fast-funding program.2Cash App. Supported Cards with Cash App Most major banks do; some smaller institutions and credit unions don’t.

Credit cards cannot receive instant deposits. Prepaid debit cards are a gray area: Cash App supports most for adding funds but warns that withdrawals to prepaid cards “may not work.”2Cash App. Supported Cards with Cash App Test with a small amount before you rely on one. If no compatible debit card is linked, the instant option simply won’t appear, and Cash App defaults to a free standard ACH transfer.

Running the Transfer

Tap your balance on the home screen, select Cash Out, and enter the amount. The app presents two options: a free standard deposit and an instant deposit with the fee shown. Pick instant, review the fee and the net amount, and confirm. The whole thing takes about 15 seconds.

You can’t split one cash out between instant and standard. To move $500 instantly and $2,000 for free, run two separate transactions. The fee only applies to the portion you send instantly.

When the Transfer Doesn’t Arrive Instantly

Most instant deposits land within seconds. Occasionally a transfer takes up to 30 minutes because of network congestion or the bank’s processing speed. You can watch the status under the Activity tab.

If the instant deposit fails outright, usually because the debit card doesn’t fully support the fast-funding network, Cash App refunds the fee and reroutes the money as a standard deposit arriving in one to three business days.3Cash App. Withdrawal Transfer Wasn’t Instant You don’t lose the money. You do lose the speed you paid for, and the refunded fee can take a moment to show back up in your balance.

If three business days pass and nothing arrives, call your bank with the reference number from your Cash App withdrawal receipt. That number is labeled differently depending on the card network, such as Visa Network ID or Mastercard Banknet Reference Number. If the bank confirms the deposit was returned, the funds reappear in your Cash App balance once the return processes.3Cash App. Withdrawal Transfer Wasn’t Instant Cash App support is 1 (800) 969-1940, 8 AM to 9:30 PM ET daily; representatives will never ask for your password, PIN, or full card number.4Cash App. Contact Cash App
