Can a Cash App Card Be Used at an ATM? Fees, Limits, Cash Back

You can use a Cash App Card at an ATM anywhere Visa is accepted, which covers almost every machine in the United States. Cash App charges a flat $2.50 per withdrawal, and the ATM’s operator usually adds its own surcharge on top. Both fees can be reduced or eliminated if you set up direct deposit or qualify for Green Status.

What It Costs

Every ATM withdrawal carries Cash App’s $2.50 fee, no matter which machine you pick.1Cash App. Stored Balance Long Form Disclosure The operator’s surcharge is separate and typically runs around $3.00 to $3.50. A single withdrawal at the wrong machine can easily cost $6 or more.

Two ways to bring that down:

  • Receive $300 or more in paycheck direct deposits in a month, and for the next 31 days Cash App waives its $2.50 fee at in-network ATMs. At out-of-network ATMs, the same $300 threshold gets you a full reimbursement of all fees, including the operator’s surcharge, on one withdrawal per 31-day period. Any additional out-of-network withdrawals in that window still carry the $2.50 fee plus the operator’s charge.1Cash App. Stored Balance Long Form Disclosure
  • Active Green Status gets you free in-network ATM withdrawals.2Cash App. Free ATM Withdrawals

The Cash App itself can locate in-network machines near you before you head out.

Withdrawal Limits

How to Withdraw

Before your first withdrawal, activate the card in the app by scanning the QR code on its packaging or entering the CVV, and make sure a Cash PIN is set. Your Cash App PIN and Cash Card PIN are the same one.5Cash App. Activate Cash App Card6Cash App. Reset Cash PIN

At the machine:

  • Insert the card and enter your four-digit Cash PIN.
  • Select Checking as the account type. Cash App Cards route as checking accounts, so choosing Savings or Credit will fail the transaction.
  • Choose your amount and accept the operator’s surcharge if it appears.
  • Take your cash, card, and receipt.

The withdrawal posts to your Cash App transaction history almost immediately, so you can double-check the amount and fees on your phone.

A Cheaper Alternative: Cash Back at Stores

Any store that offers cash back will do it when you pay with your Cash App Card as a debit transaction. Enter your Cash PIN at the terminal and pick the amount. Most retailers don’t charge for this, which often makes it the cheapest way to get cash off the card.7Cash App. Cash App Cash Back

One catch: cash back at a register counts toward your ATM withdrawal limits, so if you’re near the weekly cap it can push you over.7Cash App. Cash App Cash Back
