BECU doesn’t publish its own direct deposit form. To route your paycheck or benefits into a BECU account, you give your employer or the paying agency two pieces of information: BECU’s routing number, 325081403, and your 10-digit BECU checking or savings account number.1BECU. Direct Deposit Those numbers go on whatever form or online portal your employer uses. Expect one to two pay cycles before the first electronic deposit lands.
The Two Numbers You Need
BECU uses a single routing number for every member and every transaction type, so there is no regional variation to sort through. The same 325081403 works for ACH transactions, including direct deposit, and for wire transfers.2BECU. BECU Routing Number
Your account number is a 10-digit string tied to one specific account. Checking and savings each have their own number, and the two are not interchangeable. A few ways to find yours:3BECU. How to Find Your BECU Account Numbers
- Log in to online banking or the mobile app and look at the Account screen.4BECU. Online and Mobile Banking
- Read it off a paper check: the routing number sits on the bottom left, the account number in the center.
- Call BECU at 800-233-2328 or use Video Banking and have a representative look it up.
Make sure the account type you mark on the form (“checking” or “savings”) matches the number you enter. A mismatch is one of the more common reasons a first deposit bounces back.
Submitting the Information to Your Employer
Because BECU has no standard form of its own, the submission process depends entirely on where you work.1BECU. Direct Deposit
Online Payroll Portals
If your employer uses Workday, ADP, Paychex, or a similar system, log in and find the payment or direct deposit section. Enter 325081403 as the routing number, your 10-digit account number, and the account type. Some portals ask you to upload a document that verifies the account, usually a voided check or a bank letter.
Paper Forms and What to Do Without Checks
Smaller employers may give you a paper direct deposit authorization form. You’ll fill in your name, the routing and account numbers, and the account type, then return it to payroll. Many forms ask for a voided check attached as proof the account is real.
If you don’t have paper checks, BECU will prepare a direct deposit letter you can hand to your employer instead.1BECU. Direct Deposit A deposit slip printed from online banking or a screenshot of your account details page can also work, but confirm with payroll which substitutes they’ll accept before submitting.
Splitting a Paycheck Between Accounts
BECU lets you send parts of a single paycheck to different accounts, which is how many members automate savings.5BECU. Checking Account Features The split itself is configured in your employer’s payroll system, not through BECU. Most systems let you enter either a dollar amount or a percentage for each destination, then send the remainder to a designated primary account.
You’ll need the 10-digit account number for every BECU account you want to fund. The routing number stays 325081403 for all of them. A typical setup: send a fixed dollar amount to savings and mark checking as the “remainder” account so it absorbs any variation in your net pay.
Federal Benefits and Tax Refunds
The same routing and account numbers work for Social Security, SSI, VA benefits, and IRS tax refunds. Enroll for Social Security or SSI direct deposit through your my Social Security account online, by calling the Treasury’s Go Direct line at 1-877-874-6347, or in person at a BECU branch.6Social Security Administration. Social Security Direct Deposit For other federal payments, BECU points members to the direct deposit form available through the U.S. General Services Administration.1BECU. Direct Deposit
To route an IRS refund, enter BECU’s routing number and your account number in the refund section of your tax return. One limit to know: the IRS allows only three electronic refund deposits per year into the same account. A fourth refund converts automatically to a paper check.7Internal Revenue Service. Direct Deposit Limits That rarely affects a single filer but can surface in households where several people use one account.
When the First Deposit Will Actually Land
Direct deposit doesn’t switch on the moment you submit the form. Most employers need one to two full pay cycles to process new banking details. During that gap, payroll may send a prenote, a zero-dollar test transaction, to verify the routing number, account number, and account type before any real money moves. Prenotes catch typos. If yours fails, payroll will flag it and you’ll need to re-enter the information.
Until you see the first electronic deposit post, keep an eye on your account through online banking or the mobile app on payday. You can also turn on a large-deposit alert in BECU’s notification settings so you’re pinged when funds arrive.8BECU. How to Set Up Banking Alerts
If the expected deposit doesn’t appear, start with your employer’s payroll department. The problem almost always traces to a data-entry error on their side, not to your BECU account. Ask them to confirm the routing number, account number, and account type on file match what you see in online banking.
If Something Goes Wrong After Activation
Once deposits are running smoothly, errors are uncommon but do happen: a wrong amount, a duplicate payment, a deposit that belonged to someone else. Employers have five banking days from the settlement date to send a reversal through the ACH network, and a reversal shows up as a debit in your BECU transaction history.9Nacha. Reversals and Enforcement
For errors you spot on your own statement, whether a missing deposit, wrong amount, or unauthorized transaction, you have 60 days from the date the statement was sent to report it and trigger formal error-resolution procedures.10Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Procedures for Resolving Errors Report it early. Past 60 days, BECU is no longer bound by the same investigation timelines. Reach BECU at 800-233-2328 or through secure messaging in online banking to open a dispute.
