Bancorp Bank Direct Deposit Form: Account Number, Submission, and First Deposit

To set up direct deposit into a Bancorp-backed fintech account, write The Bancorp Bank, N.A. as the financial institution on your employer’s direct deposit form, enter routing number 031101114, and add the account number assigned to you inside your fintech app. The Bancorp Bank does not publish its own standalone direct deposit form; it tells customers to use the signup form their employer provides and fill in the bank details.1The Bancorp Bank, N.A. What to Write on the Form

A standard payroll direct deposit form has two halves. The top collects your personal information: full legal name, address, and sometimes the last four digits of your Social Security number. The bottom collects the banking details.

In the bank section, use these exact entries:

  • Financial institution name: The Bancorp Bank, N.A.
  • Routing number (ABA): 031101114
  • Account number: your personal account number from the fintech app
  • Account type: usually checking, but confirm in your app. A money market account counts as savings for direct deposit purposes.1The Bancorp Bank, N.A. The Bancorp Bank Direct Deposit Form

The bank-name field is where people slip up. Write the chartered bank, not the fintech brand. Payroll systems route money using the routing and account numbers, and the institution name needs to match the one those numbers belong to. Entering “Chime,” “PayPal,” “Venmo,” or “Betterment” in the bank name field can confuse payroll staff or trigger a manual review, even though those apps all sit on top of The Bancorp Bank.2The Bancorp. Most forms let you deposit your entire net pay into one account or split it. If you’re splitting, mark one account as the “remainder” or “balance” account where everything left over goes, and enter fixed dollar amounts for the others. Check with HR first; not every payroll system supports splits.

The signature at the bottom authorizes your employer to initiate ACH credits and stays in effect until you submit a new form or a written cancellation. Verify every digit of the routing and account numbers before signing. A single transposed digit can send a paycheck to someone else’s account, and recovering it takes weeks.

Finding Your Account Number in the App

Your routing and account numbers live inside the fintech app that holds the account. Navigation varies by platform, but the pattern is consistent: look under a “Move money,” “Direct deposit,” or “Account” menu.

Chime, one of the largest Bancorp partners, surfaces both numbers under Move → Set up direct deposit → Account numbers, and it will also generate a pre-filled direct deposit PDF you can email to your employer by choosing Move → Set up direct deposit → Get direct deposit form.3Chime. If your app generates a pre-filled authorization form, that document is the easiest thing to hand your employer. If it doesn’t, filling in your employer’s own form with the details above works equally well.

Submitting the Form

Give the completed form to your payroll or HR department. Many employers use a self-service HR portal where you can upload the document or type the banking details directly into a web form. If there’s no portal, hand-delivering a paper copy to your payroll administrator is the most secure route.

Think carefully before emailing it. The form carries your account number and possibly part of your Social Security number, which is the exact information identity thieves target. If email is unavoidable, send a password-protected PDF rather than a plain attachment, and verify any direct deposit change through a separate channel like a phone call to a known number.5NJCCIC. Direct Deposit Scams Continue

Some employers ask for a voided check to verify the account. Bancorp-backed fintech accounts generally don’t come with a checkbook. A screenshot of your in-app account details page, or the pre-filled direct deposit form the app generates, serves the same verification purpose.6Nacha. Direct Deposit Without a Voided Check? Absolutely! If payroll insists on a voided check, point them to The Bancorp Bank’s direct deposit page, which lists the routing number and confirms account setup without one.

When the First Deposit Will Arrive

Expect one to two full pay cycles before an electronic deposit lands. Many payroll systems send a prenote first, which is a zero-dollar test transaction that confirms the routing and account numbers are valid before real money moves. A prenote takes roughly three days to clear. If the test fails, your employer gets a return code identifying the problem, such as a wrong account type or a closed account, so you can correct the form.

Once the prenote clears, your paycheck runs through the ACH network like any other payroll. Federal rules require your bank to make direct deposit funds available on the same day the deposit is received, so the money should be accessible as soon as the payroll file settles.7eCFR. 12 CFR Part 229 – Availability of Funds and Collection of Checks The Bancorp Bank doesn’t charge a fee for receiving ACH deposits.8The Bancorp Bank. Federal Benefits Use the Same Numbers

Social Security, VA, and other federal benefits route to a Bancorp-backed account with the same routing number (031101114) and your personal account number. There’s no separate Bancorp routing number for government payments.1The Bancorp Bank, N.A. The Bancorp Bank Direct Deposit Form Enrollment happens through the paying agency, not through the bank. If a Deposit Doesn’t Show Up

Start with your fintech app’s customer support, not The Bancorp Bank. The Bancorp’s own customer care team cannot handle dispute or card inquiries for fintech-issued accounts and will redirect you to the number on the back of your card or in your app.10The Bancorp. Account and Cardholder Assistance Your app’s support team can check whether an ACH credit was received.

If a deposit was sent but never posted, or posted incorrectly, you have federal error-resolution rights. Report the problem to your financial institution within 60 days of the statement showing the error. The institution then has 10 business days to investigate and three business days after that to report results. It can extend to 45 days total, but it must provisionally credit your account within the first 10 business days so you’re not left without funds during the review.11CFPB. 1005.11 Procedures for Resolving Errors For brand-new accounts, within 30 days of the first deposit, those windows extend to 20 business days and 90 days.

At the same time, ask your employer’s payroll department to trace the transaction. A missing paycheck is sometimes a payroll-side problem: the file went to an old account, the prenote failed, or the submission missed the cutoff. Payroll can pull the ACH trace number and confirm where the money actually landed.
