AT&T Settlement Payout Date: Delays, Kroll Role, and Amounts

There is no confirmed AT&T settlement payout date. As of the most recent update on the official settlement website in April 2026, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas has not granted final approval of the $177 million deal, and Kroll Settlement Administration cannot distribute any money until that happens.1TelecomDataSettlement.com. Why No Payment Date Exists Yet

Judge Ada Brown held the final approval hearing on January 15, 2026. Months later, she has not ruled. The official settlement site puts it bluntly: “We do not know how long it will take for the Court to make its decision.”1TelecomDataSettlement.com. Telecom Data Settlement

Even after a ruling, checks won’t go out right away. Three things have to happen first:

  • The court grants final approval.
  • The window for appeals closes, and any appeals filed are resolved.
  • Kroll finishes reviewing all submitted claim forms.1TelecomDataSettlement.com. Telecom Data Settlement

The settlement website warns that appeals, if filed, “can take time” to resolve.

What Is Holding Things Up

Several class members filed formal objections before and after the hearing, arguing the payouts are too low for the harm caused. August Wakat called the deal “inadequate” and accused AT&T of “willful disregard of proper cybersecurity procedures.”2AboutLawsuits.com. How Much You Might Actually Get

The $177 million fund is split into two pools: $149 million for people affected by the March 2024 breach and $28 million for those affected by the breach disclosed in July 2024.6PR Newswire. The advertised maximums are up to $5,000 for the first breach class, up to $2,500 for the second, and up to $7,500 for people who qualify under both.8KCRA. Plaintiffs’ attorneys acknowledged at the final approval hearing that per-person totals would fall well short of those maximums.5New Haven Register. AT&T Data Breach Settlement Attorney Fees

What your payment ends up being depends on:

  • Whether you submitted documented losses traceable to the breach or filed for a flat tiered cash payment. Documented losses pay more.
  • Your tier under the first breach. Tier 1 (Social Security number exposed) pays five times what Tier 2 (Social Security number not compromised) pays.
  • The pro rata split. Tiered payments are divided across all valid claims, so the 4.38 million claim count directly shrinks each check.
  • Deductions from the fund before distribution: attorney fees, litigation costs, service awards for named plaintiffs, and Kroll’s administrative costs.

Plaintiffs’ attorneys are seeking approximately $59 million in fees, roughly a third of the total fund, plus about $796,000 in reimbursed litigation costs.5New Haven Register. What to Do While You Wait

If you already filed a claim, there is nothing to do right now. Kroll has not announced whether payments will arrive as checks, direct deposits, or prepaid cards; that detail should come after the court rules.
