An Allianz event charge on your bank or credit card statement is the premium for event ticket insurance you added during a ticket purchase, usually on a site like Ticketmaster, Live Nation, or StubHub. It bills separately from the ticket because the insurance is a distinct product, underwritten by BCS Insurance Company or Jefferson Insurance Company depending on your state and plan.1Allianz Travel Insurance. Event Ticket Insurance Provides Peace of Mind for Missed Events If you don’t want it, you can cancel for a full refund during the policy’s review period.
How the Charge Shows Up on Your Statement
The billing descriptor rarely says “Allianz” clearly. Most people see some version of “AGASERVICECO” — short for AGA Service Company, the payment processing arm of Allianz Global Assistance. Common entries include “AGASERVICECO MAR TT,” “AGASERVICECO ALLIANZ,” or “POS PURCHASE AGASERVICECO MAR T ALLIANZINS.US VA.” Some statements shorten it to “ALLIANZ TRAVEL INS” or “ALLIANZ INSURANCE.”2Slash. Dont Recognize AGA SERVICE CO Charge Heres Why
The charge sits on its own line because the premium is routed to the insurer, not the ticketing site. The policy is tied to a specific ticket order you placed, even if you don’t remember opting in. Ticket protection is often pre-selected or easy to miss in a fast checkout flow, which is why so many people find the charge and don’t recognize it.
How Much It Typically Costs
The premium is a percentage of your total ticket order. StubHub charges 5.75% of the order total, with a $7 minimum.3StubHub Support. How Much Does Allianz Ticket Insurance Cost Rates vary slightly across platforms but generally fall between roughly 5% and 7% of the ticket price including fees and taxes. A $200 order would produce a premium somewhere around $10 to $14.
The exact amount was broken out as a separate line in your checkout summary and in the confirmation email from the ticketing site. If the figure on your statement matches a recent ticket purchase, that’s the charge.
How to Cancel the Policy and Get the Premium Back
Every Allianz event ticket policy comes with a review period, typically 15 days from purchase, though some states provide a longer window.4Allianz Ticket Protection. Allianz Ticket Protection – Live Nation During that window you can cancel for a full refund of the premium, provided the event date hasn’t passed, you haven’t used the ticket, and you haven’t filed a claim. Once the review period expires, the premium is nonrefundable.
You’ll need two things to cancel: your policy number and the email address you used at purchase. The policy number is in the Allianz confirmation email, which arrives separately from the ticket confirmation. The fastest route is the online policy management tool on the Allianz website; enter your email or policy number to pull up the coverage, then follow the prompts to cancel.5Allianz Travel Insurance. When a Claim Makes More Sense Than Canceling
If you’re past the review period and genuinely can’t attend the event for a reason the policy covers, file a claim instead of trying to cancel. The policy reimburses 100% of the ticket price, including taxes and shipping, when the reason qualifies.7Ticketmaster Help. What Is Covered by Allianz Ticket Protection Qualifying reasons include serious illness or injury, death of a family member or companion, jury duty, a home made uninhabitable by fire or flood, a traffic accident on the event day, revoked military leave, job loss after at least three years with the same employer, employer relocation of more than 100 miles, being required to work, a common carrier delay or vehicle breakdown within 48 hours of the event, and damage to your workplace within 48 hours of the event.8Ticketmaster. Certificate of Insurance
What isn’t covered: a change of plans. If you simply decided not to go, that’s not a qualifying reason.9Allianz Assistance. Event Ticket Protector Certificate Pre-existing medical conditions are also excluded; if you had symptoms before buying the ticket, a related claim will be denied.8Ticketmaster. Certificate of Insurance For medical claims, the policy also requires a physician to examine you or the affected family member within 72 hours of the cancellation and advise against attending. That 72-hour requirement trips up more people than any other condition in the policy, so don’t skip the doctor visit if you plan to file.
You submit claims through the Allianz portal or by mail. Allianz is HIPAA-compliant but can’t request medical records on your behalf, so gathering the doctor’s note, court summons, termination letter, or other supporting document is on you.10Allianz Partners. Understanding the Claims Process Incomplete submissions get kicked back for more information, which delays payment.
If the Organizer Cancels the Event
Organizer cancellation is listed as a covered reason, but in practice ticketing platforms usually refund you directly when a show is called off.9Allianz Assistance. Event Ticket Protector Certificate You get the ticket money back from the platform, not the insurer. The premium itself won’t refund automatically on cancellation; you still have to ask Allianz for it, either inside the review period or by phone.
Don’t Dispute the Charge With Your Bank
If your first instinct is to file a chargeback, hold off. A chargeback is a tool for unauthorized charges, and this one was almost certainly authorized when you clicked through checkout. Disputing a charge you did agree to invites a representment: the insurer submits your confirmation and acceptance of the terms, and if they win, the funds reverse back to them.11Federal Trade Commission. Fair Credit Billing Act You lose weeks and end up where you started, with the policy possibly still active on their records.
Canceling directly with Allianz during the review period, or calling customer service, is faster and cleaner. You get a confirmation number, the premium comes back to your card, and the policy closes out properly.
