The ADCB account closure form is a short PDF you complete, sign, and hand in at any Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank branch to formally close one or more of your accounts. It covers which accounts to close, your reason, and where to send any remaining balance. Personal account holders can also skip the form and close eligible accounts directly through the ADCB mobile banking app. Either way, once ADCB accepts the request, processing takes five to seven working days.1ADCB. How to Close Your Account on ADCB Mobile Banking App
Get the Account Ready First
ADCB will not process a closure on an account that still has active obligations. Before you fill in anything, do three things.
Bring the balance to zero, or close to it. Leave only what you need to cover any final charges, and move the rest to the account you plan to keep using.
Wait for any outstanding cheques to clear. Under ADCB’s terms, the bank can debit your account for the value of any dishonoured cheque plus handling charges, which is exactly the kind of surprise you don’t want after you’ve started the closure.2Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank. Excellency Terms and Conditions
Cancel standing orders, sweeps, and recurring direct debits tied to the account, and redirect any incoming salary or deposits to a new account. ADCB has a separate form for cancelling or amending standing orders on the same application forms page as the closure form.3Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank. Which Form You Need
ADCB publishes the account closure form as a downloadable PDF and keeps printed copies at branch customer service desks.4Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank. Account Closure Request Form The version linked from the main downloads page is written for wholesale and corporate customers: it asks for a Company Name, CID (Customer Identification), and references the Wholesale Banking Terms and Conditions.
Personal account holders should look instead for the “Retail Account Closure or Release Letter Request Form” on the personal application forms page.3Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank. Application Forms – Personal Grabbing the wrong one is a common reason forms get sent back.
What to Have Ready Before You Fill It In
- The specific account numbers you want closed. The form lets you close every account under your CID or list individual numbers.
- A current passport or Emirates ID. ADCB uses these to verify you against its records.5Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank. KYC Documents Update
- Transfer destination details for any remaining balance: beneficiary name and address, beneficiary account number, IBAN, receiving bank name and address, and the transfer currency.4Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank. Account Closure Request Form
Filling Out the Form Section by Section
Use block letters throughout so the processing team can read your entries cleanly.
Account and Name Details
Enter your full legal name (or company name, for corporate accounts), the account title, and then tick whether you want to close all accounts under your CID or only specific ones. If it’s the latter, write out each account number in the spaces provided.4Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank. Account Closure Request Form
Reason for Closure
Rather than a blank field, the form gives you checkboxes:
- Non-eligibility for lending products
- Charges
- Unresolved complaint
- Prefer Islamic finance or conventional banking
- Maintain accounts with another bank
- Closure of business
- Service issues
- Other (with a space to write your reason)
Pick the closest fit, or tick “Other” and add a brief line.4Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank. Account Closure Request Form
Balance Transfer Instructions
Your signature on the form authorizes ADCB to send your remaining balance, after any applicable charges, either as a banker’s cheque or as a wire transfer to the account you nominate. Fill in the beneficiary and bank fields carefully. A wrong digit in the IBAN or the wrong transfer currency can hold up your funds for days or weeks. If you’d rather collect a banker’s cheque, the form has an option to have it routed to your relationship manager.4Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank. Account Closure Request Form
Signatures and Release Letter
There is room for up to three authorized signatories. Every person required under the account’s signing mandate must sign. For a joint account or a corporate account with dual-signatory rules, one signature isn’t enough and the form will be returned.
Tick the release letter checkbox. The release letter is ADCB’s written confirmation that the account is closed and all obligations are settled, and it’s the document to produce if a dispute surfaces later or a credit check turns up the old account.
Submitting the Form at a Branch
Take the completed form and your original ID to any ADCB branch.6ADCB. Ways to Bank Branches and ATMs Network A customer service representative will check your identity, review the form, and log the request. Ask for two things before you leave: a stamped copy of the form and a reference number. The reference is how you track the request if you need to call back or escalate.
The two most common reasons forms bounce back are missing signatures from required co-signatories and blank transfer instructions when a balance is still in the account.
Closing a Personal Account Through the Mobile App
If you hold a personal account and don’t want to go to a branch, the ADCB mobile app has a built-in closure flow:1ADCB. How to Close Your Account on ADCB Mobile Banking App
- Log in and open the Accounts section.
- Select the account you want to close and tap the Service Requests dropdown.
- Choose “Request Account Closure” and pick a reason.
- Confirm the account has a zero balance.
- Review the closure terms, tap “Agree & Continue,” then “Submit.”
- Confirm the request and enter the one-time password sent to your registered mobile number or email.
The app requires a zero balance to proceed, so clear or transfer any remaining funds first. Corporate and wholesale accounts, and any account with multi-signatory requirements, generally can’t use this route and need the paper form.
Fees and Timing
ADCB charges an account closure fee of AED 105 if the account is closed within 12 months of opening. Accounts open for more than a year are generally not subject to this charge, though ADCB’s schedule of fees notes it applies per the bank’s fair usage policy.7Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank. Schedule of Fees If your remaining balance is being wired to another bank, a separate remittance fee may apply depending on whether the transfer is domestic or international; check the current schedule for the amount.
Processing takes five to seven working days from the date ADCB accepts the request, whether it came in at a branch or through the app.1ADCB. How to Close Your Account on ADCB Mobile Banking App ADCB usually confirms by SMS or email once the account is closed. A release letter may take a few additional days to prepare.
What to Keep Afterward
Hold on to three documents: your stamped copy of the form (or the app confirmation screenshot), the reference number, and the release letter once it arrives. Together they show you initiated the closure, that ADCB processed it, and that nothing is outstanding. This matters most if you’re leaving the UAE and need to show a clean financial exit, or if a credit inquiry later surfaces the old account.
